Hello All, Sorry for the trouble, but some kook sabotaged my e-mail subscriptions to the Rootsweb.com mailing lists. I can still receive postings to my USER683614@AOL.COM box, or here. I also have about a dozen screen names with two other Internet providers, so if those of you who I am helping will e-mail me privately, I'll give them to you. I hope this problem will resolve itself. Sincerely, Kevin O'Brien Laguna Hills, CA
Hello to the Great State of Wisconsin, I am searching for any information anyone can provide me with regard to the surname TARRANT and FEDEREN. Both families lived in various parts of the state, but spent quite a bit of time in the Minneapolis area. I am searching for PHILIP FEDEREN (1883) and his wife EDITH FEDEREN (1884) and their two children FABIOLA TARRANT (1897) and CECILE TARRANT (1893). They were last known to be in the Twin Cities area in 1944, but their descendants could be anywhere by now. They were relatives of GEORGE A. SHANNON AND ISABELLA (McDonald) SHANNON of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, and their son ROBERT D. SHANNON, who was last known around 1942-44 to be living in Spencer, Iowa. Robert's wife was named JESSE and his children were ANNABELLE and GEORGE, also of Chippewa Falls, WI. Sometime around 1940-45, the family and the germane cousins and step-relatives scattered about the state for an unknown reason, so I'm asking for help from anyone in ANY Wisconsin County. Any information regarding these families or their descendants would be greatly appreciated. Yes, this was posted to every board in Wisconsin because the families scattered and I'm at the point of desperation. It conforms to the guidelines established by RootsWeb, USGenWeb and that awesome upstart ALHN, so it IS NOT considered spam. Take care all. I wish you the best of luck with your own searches. Hi Group~ It seems I made a terrible error. I meant to write that the Stewart's and Chapin's were from the River Falls area in Pierce Co, NOT FALL RIVER area. My apologies. -----Original Message----- From: Betty Lou Strand <BKStrand@worldnet.att.net> To: WIPIERCE-L.com@rootsweb.com <WIPIERCE-L.com@rootsweb.com> Date: Tuesday, October 19, 1999 9:19 PM Subject: Knute Olesen and Hannah Helgeson - Pierce County I am trying desperately to find info about Knute (Canute) Olesen and Hannah Helgeson. They were married in Pierce County April 19, 1870. I couldn't find death certificates for either of them and the obits. didn't give me any good information. I checked for the church records in River Falls but could not find them. I have pictures of the gravestones before the church was torn down but no good info there either. He was born 1842 in Norway and died lst June 1905. She was born 1848 (where?) and died 25 Mar 1891. Both died in Ellsworth (El Paso township) No one in the family knew a farm name.
My interest in Pierce Co., WI is the family of Hans Nelson and wife Inga Marie Olsdtr. The farm names from Norway associated with them are Korslund and Hellum. Hans was born in 1825 at Korslundeie and Inga Marie was born 1835, I think at the Hellum farm, both in Eidsvoll, Akershus, Norway. They are found on the 1865 census of Norway online at the Korslund farm, Eidsvoll. They emigrated to America on the Anna Delius in spring of 1867 and lived at Goodhue Co. MN until just before the census was taken in 1870. >From the BLM records for homesteads, I found them in Pierce Co: Hans Nelson, owned E 1/2 SE section 2, Twp 27-N Range 16 W 4 meridian. 80 acres The oldest son, Ole Nelson, signed the documents the same day (10/1/1872) for NWNW section 34 Twp 27 Range 17W 4 meridian. 40 acres. The daughter Mina Jórgine Nelson was christened July, 1877 at the Eidsvoll church, Esdaile, WI. Since the church records from Eidsvoll, Akershus, Norway burned, it is very difficult to determine siblings for Hans Nelson and Inga Marie Oldsdtr (later Olsen) though I hope by finding more christening records, some useful information may show up. >From Norway, the other farm names included on baptism information of their children include: Brøhaug: Olava Olsd. Kristoffer Olsen-(siblings of Marie?) and Hans Nielsen ??-the father?? or someone else? Langsæt 124b: Aoline Neilsdtr.-sister of Hans Nielsen Korslund?? Lønnelid med øvre Holtet, Jens Halvorsen, friend?? Langset On the sheet showing the baptism of Mina Jórgine Nelson in Esdaile, the name Brøhaug shows up in the list of godparents. There is a connection to the Oseth families and the Ulvin families but I just can't make it clear yet. It sure would be great to find a someone out there that knows more about this family than I do. -- Dianne Rabchak Coordinator of the Peace Gen Web http://www.rootsweb.com/~abpeace/peacehome.html the East Peace Gen Web http://www.rootsweb.com/~abepeace/eastpeacehome.html Rabchak's Home Page http://www.telusplanet.net/public/drabchak/rabchakhome.html
Hi, I wrote yesterday and wanted to answer some of the questions I'm getting. First of all, PLEASE send your introduction and any info about your county or name TO THE LIST. I'm just administering the list and have no information for anyone :> You can find the list name in the TO: space above. Second, "to adopt a list" means to accept responsibility for the list, sub and unsub people who are having trouble doing it themselves, and building the list by talking on it and helping researchers to discuss their names and counties. You do NOT do any research for them. For the surnames lists, go here to adopt: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/sponsors.html and for the counties go here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/clusters/adoptcounty.html Please go here: http://www.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/wizards/ to see more about what administering a list means. I'm glad to help anyone but if you have research to share or discuss or questions about that, please send it directly to the list :> -- Clare Peden Midgley mailto:Clare@RootsWeb.com Allegheny Co, PA Genealogy: http://www.rootsweb.com/~paallegh/ For SUBSCRIBE info and MORE LISTS: http://communities.rootsweb.com/ FREE ###### FREE ###### FREE UNLIMITED WEB SPACE: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/acctform.cgi

Hi all! By popular demand I have created a Wisconsin Surname Locator page on ALHN WI. The pages hold such information as what surname is being researched, what county it is being researched in, who is researching it, and a link to that researcher's email address. Please stop by and check it out or add your names at: http://www.usgennet.org/~alhnwius/WI_index.html - scroll down to Wisconsin Surname Locator and click on that button. There are well over 700 surnames listed there now and more being worked on as you read this.
