    3. Hi, I'm Lorilee Scharfenberg of Morris, MB Canada researching surnames JEPSEN, JEPPESEN, SCHARFENBERG, PETERSON (changed in America), FREDRICKSON, FRIEDRICKSON, or FREDRICKSEN The surnames are from Denmark and Germany - not Sweden or Norway. Because of marriage by the above: ROUDE, MUCKENHAUSEN, RYNNING, HARDING. I'd love to chat with offspring of Peter J. PETERSEN of Diamond Bluff - Prescott and am in touch with sons Roman and Roger (Hans) of Prescott currently. Charles Roude married Christine Peterson and they lived in the Red Wing - Diamond Bluff vicinity - any relatives or offspring of them are welcome to e-mail. I've been told by a contact that the Bluff in Diamond Bluff was also referred to (or part of it) as Scharfenberg Hill. I'd love to correspond with anybody familiar with old Otto Scharfenberg who use to have a still on his property. Young Otto Scharfenberg used to be the postmaster in Diamond Bluff as well. He was married to Hedwig Rynning. A cousin Leonard Scharfenberg used to work for the railroad and lived on what is referred to as the Christ. Scharfenberg place. The Fredrickson line includes the families of John, Marie, Einar, Carl, Christine (who became a Harding) who were children of Broder Christian. The Jepsen line lived in Red Wing and Jep Jr. worked for various potteries as a kiln setter. Any information on the history of Diamond Bluff is welcome: the flash floods of Trimbelle Creek, stories of swimming the Mississipi to get to Red Wing, playing in the caves, rattlesnake stories etc. I'm targeting the time period when my Grandpa lived there between 1890 and 1915 especially. I'm looking forward to a brief visit to DB this summer to do research. Well that sums up what I'm researching for all of you on the list and now I'm off to my other fave hobby - digging around in my garden... Lorilee

    1. [WIPierce] Sergeants(Sargent), Chapins, Stewarts of Pierce Co.
    2. Wm & Penny Kresl
    3. Hi~ I am looking for anyone with connections to the Sargent's, Chapins' or Stewart's, of the River Falls area. J.Giles Sergeant moved his family to the River Falls area sometime abt 1876, from the Jefferson Co, WI area(which is located in SE WI) He married (2) Mary Smith(his first wife's sister) in Pierce Co. There is a listing in Pierce Co marriages for a Julius Giles Sergent, and a Mary Whitney. I have come to the conclusion that Mary Smith was also m.(1st ) to a ? Whitney and then married for the second time to J.Giles Sergent.. I have in my notes that J. Giles Sergeant and Mary Smith had a daughter Ida Sergent who m. a Whitney and moved to San Francisco, where the last time she was heard from was abt 1906 right before the Great Earthquake. I am convinced that Ida Was a product of Mary's first marriage and J. Giles was the step father. Can someone with access to any Pierce Co records figure this out? Our family has always thought his name was James Giles (first name after his father James)Sergent and not Julius Giles Sergent. Name could now be spelled SARGENT. J. 1. [WIPierce] Searching Teare's and Dunn's
    2. Hi Everyone, My name is Melinda Daughtry, I live in Virginia, Most people are searching ggg's and ggggreats and I am searching for my grandfather, I have found ggg's on other branches but not this one. His name is Gordon R. TEARE, Born: Circa 1903 in Wheaton , MN (Traverse County). Adopted by a Mary DUNN TEARE in River FAlls, I have heard via his youngest son, it was thru an agency in St Paul/ Minneapolis, (I have learned you do not believe everything you hear) I understand he went to River Falls High, I need to check the year books, but there not on line. LOL I understand that Angus and Maizie Dunn are relatives I have ordered the 1910 census from Heritage Quest, should be here in 2 wks hopefully that will help. I will be glad to do some look ups when it gets here. I have been told he was good friends with Chalmer Davee........not sure if thats a lead or not.....I know he did move to North Carolina, He married my g/m Sarah Irene Burke about 1929, My father was born, 1930, They divorced, and my father never saw him again, to my knowledge. My uncle did. Last my uncle knew he was in St Joseph, MO around 1981 and has since died. The fact that he was adopted, doesn't mean that I do not want to know his family. Yes, it would be nice to know who the real parents are, but I would not have a clue how to go about that, (I can't find out anything about him or his adoptive mom, how could I find out anything about the real thing) LOL................................ I know there was a William Teare listed on the 1880 census in Traverse Co, MN and a Charles Teare listed on the 1860 census in Pierce Co, WI I may have this revesed. notes are at home. Someone suggested it could have been a family adoption. Wouldn't that be nice. Also some Teare's listed on the Canadian Census? Not sure of that yet. btw: the R might stand for Ramond or Ramon, as one child was named Gordon, the other Ramon.. Just a thought. Well thank you for reading; Any help would be so appreciated. and remember if I can do anything for anyone here in VA, just let me know. Melinda

    3. Hi Melinda and listers, I read your post with interest and I think I may have a few very tenuous leads for you. The Chalmers that you mention is most likely Dr. Chalmer Davee. He was our family doctor for the years he practiced in River Falls. During the WWII he served with a commission in the Navy, and later on was very active in promoting River Falls and the College. He was honored by having the new college library named after him. You mentioned Angus & Maizie Dunn. I remember Angus as a part owner of the Dunn & Simpson Hardware store during the 30's. He was a tall man who walked with a decided limp and was in charge of the tin shop located in the basement of the store. I know very little about his family, but the genealogy of this family should be quite easy to trace since they made a significant presence in River Falls. I am familiar with people in River Falls with the surnames you listed, such as Cowan, Abbot, Burke, Wilson, and Emerson. I know of all of these families during the 30' and 40's. But again, I can only provide you with assurance that these families lived in and around River Falls although it would be up to you to pursue the genealogical research on your own. No doubt there will be others on this list that can help you---good hunting, George

    1. [WIPierce] New Pierce County List Administrator
    2. Hi guys: It's me, Debbie Barrett, your new list administrator. Wasn't aware so many were already using this list, or I would have done this a long time ago. I am brand new at administering, so please be patient with me. I have made only one change, and that is prepending the WIPierce to each subject message. I did that only because I am on so many lists, and run 3 different projects for the USGenWeb organization, that if I don't things could get deleted accidentally. I get TONS of mail everyday. Thanks again for your patience. Debbie http://www.rootsweb.com/~wipierce/ http://www.rootsweb.com/~nywashin/
