Posted on: Pierce Co. Wi Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/genbbs.cgi/USA/Wi/Pierce/56 Surname: Almquist, Sorenson, Johnson, Wennenberg ------------------------- Gustaf O. Almquist homesteaded in Pierce County Wisconsin. He came from Sweden on the Nymphen in 1871 with his wife, Helene Regine Sorenson. Already settled in Pierce county were Helene's sisters, Mrs Martha Wennerberg and Mrs Christiana Johnson. Christiana was the wife of Per Johnson. If anyone has any information on this family I would appreciate hearing from you. I have a lot of information on some of the family in this country and have traced Per Johnson and Gustaf O. Almquist back to early 1700s in Sweden. Also have traced Helene and her sisters back to the early 1700s in Norway. Thanks for any assistance.

I want to thank you all for all of the VERY positive responses. Many of the mail list administrators have stated it is all right to continue to post the reminders I am choosing not too. I did not solely join the county mail lists to place a weekly reminder on them. I felt I could contribute to others research not only by having a gathering place (weekly chat), but I have also answered many questions for many different researchers on the various county mail lists. I was hoping to help others. Should anyone need information on the Wisconsin Genealogy weekly chat-I have this information posted on the Waupaca County Website at the following address http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwaupac/index.htm. I will will continue to post chat reminders on the Waupaca County mail list, WauShaOcon Mail List and Wisconsin Mail List. Hope you all break through those brick walls and find those lost ancestors-have a great week! I guess I didn't feel once a week email would unset anyone and that it would let the new people to the lists know of the weekly genealogy chat. So this will be the last notice of the weekly chats. I have repeated the instructions below and feel if anyone is interested in the weekly chat can print this out and refer to it for information. Hope to see you there Sunday night and happy hunting! Here are step by step instructions- 1-Go to the site http://huntsville.about.com/citiestowns/southeastus/huntsville/mpchat.htm 2-Click on Log on to chat in the upper left area of the screen. This takes you to another screen. 3-At this screen type in your name or a name you are going to use in the chat room in the space next to Nick name. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TYPE ANYTHING ELSE IN ANY OF THE OTHER SPACES. Once you have typed in your name, click on OK, connect in the lower left. 4-You are in the chat room. Type your message in the lower left space where it says Type here and then hit enter. A few helpful hints. There is a list on the right side of the screen of all the people who are in the room. To enlarge the screen for easier reading click on the float button in the upper right hand corner. To enlarge the font, also for easier reading, in the space where you type your message type *chat fontsize 14, this will enlarge the font size. Hi: I have added a service which allows you to monitor changes to the "What's New" page. As this is where all updates go, you would be notified automatically by email when any changes are made to the site. It is private and you will not receive junk mail unless you choose to sign up for their publications. If you use this, I would be interested in feedback when changes are made as to how the service is working and if it is valuable to you. Thanks, Debbie Barrett County Coordinator Pierce County WIGenWeb Project Washington County NYGenWeb Project

Just a friendly weekly reminder of the Wisconsin Genealogy Chat Sunday night at 9:00 p.m. EST (Adjust for your time zone) We have been having a great group, so stop in and see if you can connect with someone else researching one of your lines. There have been a few questions about the chat so I will post the information here for those of you interested in stopping in and are new to chat rooms. 1- Go to http://huntsville.about.com/citiestowns/southeastus/huntsville/mpchat.htm 2- Click on "log on to chat" 3- In the Nick Name space- type the name you want to show in the chat room. Most choose something short and some put the state appreviation after the name, examples DebWI, JeanIL, RedWA, etc. You do not need a password or need to fill out anything else on this page. Once you type in your name click on OK, Connect lower left. 4- You have entered the chat room. You will type your messages in the space in lower left of screen where it says Type here. Type your message and hit enter. A couple helpful hints. To make the screen bigger and without advertisements click on the float button in the upper right hand corner. To enlarge the type - in the message space type *chat fontsize 14, this will enlarge the type font for easier reading. Hope this helps and hope to see some new names in the chat Sunday.
