In 1877 they sold land owned in Renfrew County, Ontario and stated that they were in Diamond Bluff, Pierce Co. Any help would be appreciated.
Hi: Just received notification that the 1900 census is scanned to CD. A copy is being sent to the USGenWeb Census Project and should, hopefully, be online within the next week or so. Will let you all know when that happens. Thanks to all who donated to get this census online. It will be of great benefit to researchers in the county now and for those future generations who have not yet been bitten by the bug! :) Also, I am nearly done with the 1880 Gilman Township census, hope to have that online by early next week. With any luck, census materials through 1910 will be online this year!!! The 1870 census should be coming online within the next 2-3 months, thanks to an anonymous donator, and the 1910 census only needs about $80.00 more in pledges to have it scanned, so we are well on track to accomplishing that. Thanks again to all who have helped this site grow over the past 3.5 years. I couldn't have done it without your help! Netta (born March 1861) being my greatgrandmother. We did a "SAND" search for Wisconsin on the 1880 Census at the LDS site and the only Pierce County townships with SAND/SANDS/SANS listed were River Falls and Maiden Rock and furthermore, no names matched my ancesters. I'll go to the Cincinnati Library to make copies of the 1880 census documents for the complete listing. Thank you so much for the quick and great news feedback! Would you mind sending me the ages and birthplace listed for Andrew, Gurine and the other two daughters? Hope you don't mind, it's just that your lookup is exciting and I can't wait another week or so before I can get back down to Cincinnati. Jim Roberts

Hello: I received notification of letters written by men of the 12th Wisconsin Infantry in the Civil War from Gretchen Levings. They were posted on a website run by Russell Scott regarding the 12th and with his permission were kindly re-presented on the Pierce County site. He not only gave me permission to repost the letters, but a couple of diaries as well marking this regiments march into Georgia. Although most of us will not be directly related to these men they make a fascinating read, a look into the daily life and concerns of men in the field during this war. I hope you will all take time to check them out at www.rootsweb.com/~wipierce/civilwar.htm. You can find the links to each at the bottom of the page. This is also the month the 1900 Federal Census should be going online. Many thanks to those of you who donated to accomplish this! The 1870 census is still in need of pledges to get it online as well. We only need another $50.00 in donations, so if you can spare a few dollars for this, please contact me at mrsgrinnin@home.com. I would be happy to add your name and amount pledged to the list. I have also been posting the newspaper clippings donated by Reta Sanford regarding WWII servicemen to the Message boards. When that is done, I will place them in a text document, with the accompanying pictures on the Pierce County site. Thank you Reta for this wonderful contribution!
