I am searching for the parents and birthdate, or any other information, for George HUTCHINSON, of Pike, Wyoming Co., N.Y., who married Angelina Augusta SMITH (b. 3/9/1830) on 3/30/1852 in Pike. She was the daughter of Moses Smith and Rebecca Waite. Hutchinson came to Pike as a doctor in 1849, according to Beers History of Wyoming County. He is said to have studied at Rush Medical School in Chicago, probably sometime between 1840 to 1849. Rush has no records on him, probably because the 1871 Chicago fire destroyed them. He was a doctor in Pike until 1862 when he moved to Manitowoc, Wisconsin, where he was commissioned as an assistant surgeon in 27th Wisconsin Infantry. The mustering for the 27th ended on March 7, 1863. He apparently did not follow his regiment to Columbus, Ky and then to Vicksburg, but instead was put in charge of Post Hospital at Camp Randall, Madison, and then was moved to General Hospital in Milwaukee. He probably left military service in 1866. Beginning on 5/2/1866 he worked as a doctor and drugstore owner in Durand, in Pepin County, Wisconsin. He died there in 1885.
