Okay Connie, since you offered. We cannot remember the name of an Arkansaw cemetery. It is about one mile south of Highway 10 on top of the hill. And, are there any plans to document this one and add it online? Thanks Cathy and Swede in Oregon.

Is there a web site for Pepin WI -- thanks Rose Vosler
Hi Lauri, Gordon Madison here again. I too would like to find out more about the Eagle hotel in Durand. Thomas Stokes was gggrandfather and I have seen a brief reference to his ownership in the History of Pepin Co. His youngest son, Oliver, by Thomas' first marriage built the Stokes House hotel in Durand in 1899. It is still there but was a bar/restaurant the last time we were in Durand. About 3 years ago. I will be anxious to see if you receive any replies. Please let me know if you do. Best regards, Gordon Lauri Kraemer Serafin wrote: > Does anyone know anything about the Eagle Hotel in Durand? Hi, Gail von Bargen sent me the Hartung family book, which has data on this family. It's closer to her line than to my husband's, so I am referring you to her. GVonBargen@aol.com Virginia DeMarce

I am searching for the parents and birthdate, or any other information, for George HUTCHINSON, of Pike, Wyoming Co., N.Y., who married Angelina Augusta SMITH (b. 3/9/1830) on 3/30/1852 in Pike. She was the daughter of Moses Smith and Rebecca Waite. Hutchinson came to Pike as a doctor in 1849, according to Beers History of Wyoming County. He is said to have studied at Rush Medical School in Chicago, probably sometime between 1840 to 1849. Rush has no records on him, probably because the 1871 Chicago fire destroyed them. He was a doctor in Pike until 1862 when he moved to Manitowoc, Wisconsin, where he was commissioned as an assistant surgeon in 27th Wisconsin Infantry. The mustering for the 27th ended on March 7, 1863. He apparently did not follow his regiment to Columbus, Ky and then to Vicksburg, but instead was put in charge of Post Hospital at Camp Randall, Madison, and then was moved to General Hospital in Milwaukee. He probably left military service in 1866. Beginning on 5/2/1866 he worked as a doctor and drugstore owner in Durand, in Pepin County, Wisconsin. He died there in 1885. Can anyone provide any assistance? Knut Barde
Hi List, I would like to get a copy of my Great Grandfather's will. He died in 1877 in Albany, Pepin County. Does anyone know which court I would write to for a copy of his will. I never have gotten any probate or will records in the past. Should I ask for a copy of his will (if there was one) and any probate records? Thank you, Mary Silvernail Researching Silvernail, Crandall, Fuscikofsky, Merchant, Menter, Daniels, Norton, Kurth, Weyers, Pennenberg, Pynenberg, Wachowiak

Hello All, Sorry for the trouble, but some kook sabotaged my e-mail subscriptions to the Rootsweb.com mailing lists. I can still receive postings to my USER683614@AOL.COM box, or here. I also have about a dozen screen names with two other Internet providers, so if those of you who I am helping will e-mail me privately, I'll give them to you. I hope this problem will resolve itself. Hello to the Great State of Wisconsin, I am searching for any information anyone can provide me with regard to the surname TARRANT and FEDEREN. Both families lived in various parts of the state, but spent quite a bit of time in the Minneapolis area. I am searching for PHILIP FEDEREN (1883) and his wife EDITH FEDEREN (1884) and their two children FABIOLA TARRANT (1897) and CECILE TARRANT (1893). They were last known to be in the Twin Cities area in 1944, but their descendants could be anywhere by now. They were relatives of GEORGE A. SHANNON AND ISABELLA (McDonald) SHANNON of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, and their son ROBERT D. SHANNON, who was last known around 1942-44 to be living in Spencer, Iowa. Robert's wife was named JESSE and his children were ANNABELLE and GEORGE, also of Chippewa Falls, WI. Sometime around 1940-45, the family and the germane cousins and step-relatives scattered about the state for an unknown reason, so I'm asking for help from anyone in ANY Wisconsin County. Any information regarding these families or their descendants would be greatly appreciated. Yes, this was posted to every board in Wisconsin because the families scattered and I'm at the point of desperation. It conforms to the guidelines established by RootsWeb, USGenWeb and that awesome upstart ALHN, so it IS NOT considered spam. Take care all. I wish you the best of luck with your own searches. Hi Joanne, I could walk this over to you faster than you might get this by e-mail. James Knight married Ella Doughty of Durand, daughter of Christianna Cooke and Henry Doughty. Ella was my second cousin once-removed on the Cooke line. I do have quite an interesting article written by their son Walter about the family logging camp that was later used as a hunting camp at Kennen, WI. My father would sometimes deer hunt there. James and Ella were buried at Kennen, WI. I am looking for information on the Henry Knight family that lived in Arkansaw or Waterville in 1870 and 1880. The children would have been Charles, James, Nellie, John, Ernest and Jesse. I would appreciate hearing from any one that could help me with this family. Thank you Joanne Rohrscheib

I can give you some information on #1.7 under Notes on Patraw...I know my great great grandmother's name was Lonore Lombard (William Patraw's wife) and she died 22 Aug, 1922. Their son Jess #1.7.3 had a son Glenn A. Patraw, born 6 Nov.,1915, d. Apr.1983. I have more on Amanda & William's other children from their daughter Edith's (my grandmother) date and address book, which I don't have with me at the moment, but I can send it to you later if you'd like. She kept track of everybody's birthdates and death and burial dates. Nora
I've subscribed for three months to the online site of the PRDH (Programme de Recherche en Demographie Historique de l'Universite de Montreal) and have been exploring their data bases. Francois Petrin was from Greneuville, France. He is on an April 26, 1736, list of men sent from France to Quebec on the ship Le Heros with an agreement to stay there for the rest of their lives. They were all "faux-saulniers." At the time, France had a very high excise tax on salt, strictly enforced. At best, the was an excise tax invader; at worst, he was a salt-smuggler (I can't tell the exact context without more than the list). The excellent genealogical news is that also on the list was one Georges Jarry, who later signed as "cousin" on the record of Francois's burial, 5 March 1759, Vercheres (he a resident of Yamaska).
