Winn and Martha Whitson, according to the 1850 Parke County, IN census, among other sources, Martha Winn, who was then a widow, had these children who survived to adulthood: John Winn who married first Louisa and then Mary Draper; Reuben Winn who married Lydia McNamar; James Winn who married Mary/Mollie Steinbarger; Mary Ann Winn who married William Hayworth; and Hays (Harmon) who married Esther Stover. John Winn lived in Parke County, IN, Reuben Winn lived in Shelby County, IN and Hays (Harmon), James and Mary Ann lived in Bartholomew County, IN. Martha (Whitson) Winn was the sister of my husband's ancestor. Thanks very much. Sharon Parrish in Indiana
Sharon, I have Wynn/Wynne/Winn ancestry and was caught by the locality of your family. My gr gr grandfather, Robert Joshana Wynn was born in 1842 in Bartholomew County, Ind. I have not yet determined who his parents were. I am wondering if there could be a connection here. We seem to have several from the Illinois/Indiana area in the mid 1800's. And it blows my mind how they kept electing to spell the last name different ways. We have all three spellings in our ancestors! Do you think we have any connection here in these ancestors. I have another Robert Hughes Wynne, that was born in Indiana ( I am thinking he was Robert J.'s cousin) and lived awhile in Illinois. They both went to Kansas and Missouri a little later, but I have yet to find Robert J. with his parents in the 1850 census. Let me know if you think there is a connection. It is fun to find someone researching the same line to share info. If we are connected, we could share research!
