He was born November 23, 1918 at the family residence in Philo, Ohio to Blanche & Eldon Winn. He is survived by his loving wife, Sara Catherine (Fisher) Winn; daughters, Mariana Wilson, Kathleen (Darrell) Jenkins, Linda Plants, & Valerie (William) Arbaugh; eight grandchildren, Carolee (Vaughn) Ellis, Melissa (Robert) Jones, Robert Jenkins, Christine Thomas, Teresa (James) Bonifield, Gail Plants, Dana (Jewel) Stoneking, and Brandon (Rhiannon) Stoneking; seven great grandchildren & two great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Opal Roberts of Dorset, Ohio and Virginia Corder of Zanesville, Ohio. He was among the first graduating class of 1937 from Philo High School. He continued his education with a degree from Meredith Business School. His military service as a Radio Operator was from 1941 until 1945 where he served overseas in World War II. After his return from the war, he began farming and was best known as a grower of strawberries and other fruits and vegetables that he grew and sold at "Winn's Fruit Farm" the remainder of his life. Along with farming he owned and operated a coal and lime trucking company, EE Winn & Son Trucking. He retired as a school bus driver from Franklin Local School District after many years of service. He was a member of Riverside Grange and Muskingum County Farm Bureau. As an avid square dancer his love for country music was shared over the years with friends and family. Flying was also a hobby in earlier years, owning his own Piper Cub airplane. Friends and family may call Tuesday, December 28, 2010 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Thompson Farus Funeral Home in Duncan Falls, Ohio where funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 29th. Burial will be in Duncan Falls Cemetery with full Military honors provided by George Selsam Post #1058. Friends and Family are invited to attend a dinner at the VFW on Moxahala Avenue in Zanesville immediately following the services.
