    1. [WINN] Re: Winn family not in the southern US
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/FgWBAEB/716.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Becky, Thank you for the information As I had mentioned before, it has been a few years since I had to access that Wynne site, but when I did, I was pleased with the documentation that I did find. I didn't go through all of it, so maybe my saying that it was well documented wasn't the right thing to say if there is something that I am not aware of. It is just that what I had seen, I was impressed with. Now, since you seem to know enough about the Winn, etc. family that I am going to ask you your opinion. I have been of the opinion for many years that there are two completely different families that came and settled in Penn. They are the Gruffyd Wynne line and the Dr. Thomas Wynne line , see below: Gruffyd Wynne and Elizabeth Sonlli of the Denbigh, Wales Wynnes had children: John, Robert, Thomas, Elizabeth (m.Richard Holland) & Jane (m.Joseph Bromfield). The daughters apparently stayed in Wales while the sons came to America and settled in Pennsylvania. Then the family of John Wynne, father of Dr.Thomas Wynne (1627-1691) from Co. Flintshire, Wales and his 1st wife Martha Buttall (who dies in Wales) and 2nd wife Elizabeth Rowden. From Martha they had: Mary (m.Dr.Edward Jones), Tabitha (either stayed in Wales or she may have died young as we hear no more of her), Rebecca (m.Solomon Thomas), Sidney (m.William Chew), Hannah (m.Daniel Humphrey) & Jonathan (m.Sarah Graves). Both families are connected with Pennsylvania and I have often thought that they are connected, but of course I have never found anything that can proove that. I even question the parentage of Dr. Thomas Wynne as being John Wynne since I don't have any proof, only some old letters from years ago. I am going to check out your site and I appreciate you sharing that with me.
