Hi Herbert, I am not researching Robert Wynne, Mayor of Canterbury, but do have various Wynne sources at hand. Your reference to a Robert ap Morys, whose mother was Catherine of Berain, is validated in J.E. Griffith's "Pedigrees of Anglesey & Caernarvonshire" (1914). In that collection of pedigrees developed by Griffith, page 281 has the Gwydir line and shows that this "Morris Wynn" did have a son named Robert. A crossref. to page 394 leads to a pedigree for the 'Tribe of Rhirid Flaidd'. That ped shows the marriage of "Robert Wynn ap Mores Wynn of Gwydir" to a Catherine, dau. and sole heriess of Dafydd Lloyd. Her mother was another Catherine, dau. & sole heiress of Ifan Lloyd ap Gruffydd. No children are shown for Robert Wynn & Catherine Lloyd, tho. So that doesn't help much. No dates are provided in the ped of p. 394 but the Gwydir ped gives a death date for Catherine of Berain as 1591 and for Morris of 1580. You would want to match those dates with any known for Robert of Canterbury. Shropshire is defintiely the place to be digging, so good luck. I know for a fact that he is not the son of sir john wynne. I am still digging around his birth place of old salop (shrewsbury)shropshire uk to find his parents. I have a story of him being the son of another robert who was the son of morys (morus)(maurice) by morys 3rd marriage to katherine of berain. All of this cannot be authenticated yet, but I am still trying with some contacts back in the uk. thanx HERB
