Early in August, a message appeared that contained the names: Mary Ann Ellis, Philip Pledger, Richard Winn, and Phoebe Wilkes. I don't know whether the following is the Mary Ann Ellis in question. My ggg grandfather, Thomas Winn, was married three times, and his first was to a Mary Ann Ellis, daughter of John Ellis and Susanna DuVal. Thomas and Mary Ann had two sons: John Ellis Winn, b. 5/3/1799, and Jesse Winn, birth date unknown. From information that I have been able to find, including information that Bowles family researchers have contributed, Thomas (born 8/20/1774, Hanover County, VA, died 12/26/1835, Barren County, KY) was a son of John Winn, Jr. and Mary Bowles. John Winn, Jr. was a son of John Winn and Mary Pledger. Thomas Winn's second marriage was to Ann Johnston (parents unknown). They had three daughters: Mary Bowles Winn, Lucy Winn and Anne Winn. Thomas Winn's third marriage was to Elizabeth (Betsy) Depp, daughter of William Depp and Elizabeth Walker. Their children were: Sarah Elizabeth Winn, Peter Henry Winn, James Manning Winn, Elmore Depp Winn, Nancy Austin Winn, Walter Henry Winn, Marcus De Lafayette (MDL) Winn and Martha Asneth Winn.
