The will of Alexander Winn, Asa's father, was probated in February 1828 in Lunenburg Co. Alexander directed that all his property was to be sold and the proceeds divided among all his children (and one grandchild, the daughter of a deceased child) Asa Barnes Winn and his brother Joseph were executors of that will. Asa Barnes was married twice, first to Elizabeth Ann Schwartz of what is now Blackstone, Nottoway Co. His second wife was Ann Elizabeth Robertson, daughter of John Archer Robertson and Elizabeth Royall. The Robertsons moved from Amelia Co to Nottoway about 1810 and divorced in Jan 1814. Most of the Winn descendants left the Lunenburg area following their receipt of their share of Alexander's property. Lunenburg Co., VA ~ "Hither & Yon" Hope that helps. ----- Original Message ----- From: "reginia" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, August 18, 2005 3:02 AM Subject: Re: [WINN] Thomas Henry Winn > Mary > This was not sent to me, but I am researching the Winn's (all Spellings) > would like to exchange info. Regina, Regarding Asa Barnes Winn-- Asa Barnes Winn (b 1802) was the youngest son of Alexander Winn. Below is what my cousin, Jane Peyrouse submitted to "Migrations": Jane Peyrouse to "Migrations" Captain Asa Barnes Winn, son of Alexander(1754-1828) and Elizabeth Winn, had been a captain in the Nottoway County, VA, militia before deciding to take his inheritance and go to Alabama. He married twice, Elizabeth Ann Schwartz, daughter of John and Elizabeth Schwartz of Nottoway County, VA, and second Ann Elizabeth Robertson, daughter of John Archer and Elizabeth Royall Robertson of Amelia and Nottoway Counties in VA. By his first wife he had Julia and Virginia. By his second he had Elizabeth, Walter E., and Henry J. He was a planter and staunch Episcopalian responsible for building St. Andrews Church, Prairieville, AL. Information is from family records and from Wassell Randolph\'s, \"Descendants of the Rev. George Robertson of Bristol Parish, Virginia. Henry J. Winn was my great grandfather.
