    3. It very well could be. John Winn was the son of Thomas Winn born about 1776 according the 1841 Durham Census. I have a Bible page from John Winn b 1809 married 1835 mary Fletcher in Heyworth/Durham/England to Mary Fletcher. John and Mary had a son named George born in 1851 in Seaton Delaval, Northumberland just north of New Castle on the Tyne. I have been there, it is a neet smaller village compared to the New Castle area. Let me fill you in on what I have been able to locate but not necessarily prove. Thomas Winn and Elizabeth (From Bible pages) 1. Mary Ann Winn 1808 to 1886 Married John Johnson Buried in Du Quoin, IL 2. John Winn 1809 to 1891 Married Mary Fletcher Buried in Du Quoin, IL 3. Joseph Winn 1811 to 16 to bef 1891 Stayed in England (Questionable) 4. Robert Winn abt 1816 to bef 1891 in England Shown in 1841 Census with Thomas and Elizabeth. Thomas was a Collier by trade. John was a Collier(Coal Weyher) Is there more information about other children? John and family came to American in 1852 firt to PA then to Hancock County, KY and during the Civil War on to Illinois. John's sister came later in 1880 and died in 1886 buried in Du Quoin, IL. John has a son named Robert. Mary Johnson had a son named Robert. It is evident that John has a brother named Robert. George Winn had a daughter (my grandmother) he named Venus de Winn. The story he told was she was named after the planet Venus when he went outside and the first thing he saw was the planet Venus. He also said that he used the "de" because they were entitled to use it. I have never figured out what he was talking about.
