    3. Hi Robert, I wish I could help but I'm a rookie at all this. Have you located any information of a connection with the Winn line that came to American in 1852 and settled in Hancock county, KY from Seaton Delaval/Northumberland/England. My great grandfather was born there in 1851. His father John Winn was a Coal weigher for the mine there. He was born and raised in the New Castle on the Tyne area. I have John's father as Thomas Winn born about 1776. John Winn born in 1809 married Mary Fletcher daughter of Richard Fletcher. My son and I made a trip to the northern part of England where we visited the pub that was standing when my great great grandfather lived in the Forman's Row housing. The Row houses are gone now. 3. David- Since your visit is primarily to see the sites, there are Wynn sites in Northern Wales not often visited by Wynn descendants. I attach a copy of three chapels associated with the Wynn family of Gwydir. At the top of the list would be Gwydir Uchaf as Sir Richard Wynn raised this chapel in the memory of his earliest ancestors. Though not mentioned in the phamphlet there is a stone tablet memorializing the line of Gwydir from Sir Richard to their ancestor the "last right heir of the title Prince of Wales". The key to the chapel is held by the groundskeeper and the staff at Gwydir should help with advance arraingments to access the property by thier guests. As a "Southern Winn" - I'm not sure that term has any meaning except to diferentiate the PA Dr. Thomas Wynne descendants from everyone else since it certainly has no application in regards to the common Winn/Wynne gene pool. 3. David- My original response to your message does not appear in sent messages file so I am resending the attached file as a recommendation for a "Southern Winn" sightseeing through North Wales. Gwydir Uchaf and Rug is the epicenter for Wynn's in the Gwydir line. I suggest enquiring with the staff at the Gwydir B&B to make arraignments to Gwydir Uchaf beforehand. I believe there is a mable tablet setting forth the descent of the Gwydir Wynn's to the "Last right heir of the crown of the Prince of Wales" in the chapel [well worth a photo]. Also, the Gwydir Wynn's were rather late to assume the surname Wynn ca 1525 as the surname had been in use since the 12th C. Don't know if you will have a chance to visit the West Riding of Yorkshire but Nostell Priory is a must see for any Wynn descendant. -Robert On Wed, 4 Nov 2009 13:18:51 -0600 "David Winn" <dwinn@cailaw.org> wrote: > > Hi Robert, > > I wish I could help but I'm a rookie at all this. > > Happy hunting, > > David > > > -----Original Message----- >From: Robert Morefield [mailto:robertmorefield@yahoo.com] > Sent: Wednesday, November 04, 2009 10:43 AM > To: winn@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [WINN] Gwynedd > > Hello David, > > May I ask a question?
