Dear Shirley, Don't forget the time frames.... They started in Wales. Then England won the wars and they all spread out every where... So England is a good answer as well as Wales. Thanks for the encouraging word, Cuz B. My oldest ancestor on my own mtDNA links to Oetzi the Iceman found in the Alps - haplogroup K. It's all so interesting. I knew I had a Hessian soldier as an ancestor - Heinrich Frolich - who was captured in MD, and when the war was over he deserted on the way back to NY to be sent back to Hesse. He married into a prominent family - the Ogle family which had been here since Colonial times. Smart man!
