    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Winn, Wayt, Twyman Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/FgWBAEB/851.1 Message Board Post: Monica, I received this following message several years ago. This is from Genealogy.com's RANDOLPH Forum, message number 1463. It was posted by Jeffery Thomas Wayt and it is as follows: *************************** " Mary J Winn (06/18/1778-3/22/1844) married Twyman Wayt (4/15/1776-4/4/1861) from my records. The postings on the Wayt forum say he was the son of George Wayt who bought a plantation at Ivy Creek in Albemarle Co, VA. It is possible the 'J' in Mary J Winn is for Johnson and the Winn is a guess, influenced by his association with John Winn. So more info on John Henry Winn might help clear this up. Pieces of the postings: Genealogy Report Ancestors of Deborah Anne Tharp.htm 204. George Wayt. He married 205. Catherine Twyman. 205. Catherine Twyman. She was the daughter of 410. William Twyman , Sr. and 411. Winifred Cowherd. Children of George Wayt and Catherine Twyman are: i. Winn and Wayt had a business in Albemarle Co, VA in the early 1800's. --- From "The History of Albemarle Co of Virginia" by Rev Edgar Woods, CJ Carrier and Co, Bridgewater, VA. page 341:WAYT "George WAYT in 1773 purchased frm William TWYMAN the plantation on Ivy Creek, on the north side of Whitehall Road, which long continued in the possession of the family. His children were: Twyman, Tabitha, the wife of a Kennerly, of Augusta, Catharine, the wife of Paschal Garth, who removed to Todd Co, Kentucky, Frances, Sarah, Judith, and Elizabeth. Twyman was for many years associated with his brother in law, John Winn under the firm of Wayt and Winn. He was also Mr. Winn's succesor as Postmaster of the town. His home was on the north east corner of Jefferson and 2nd steets, the square on which it stook having been bought by him in 1815 fomr the executors of Jacob Kinney.
