    2. For the information of those who do not subscribe to the Hertford or Bertie County N.C. lists, I recently provided a full transcript of the will of William B. WYNNS (1796 - 1840) to the Hertford List. I believe it has been posted in the Hertford Co. archives by now. Names mentioned in the will are wife Mary A. Wynns; sons James and Thomas; executors John W. HARRELL and Richard G. COWPER; slaves Winborn, Byrum, and Harriet; witnesses Daniel SMITH, Cary WHITAKER, and James WILLIAMS (probably of Jackson, Co., FL); and clerk of the court L. M. COWPER. The will mentions property in Jackson Co., FL and Hertford Co., for example, the Petty Shore Plantation and Fishery, the Winton Ferry, and the Homewood or Odums tract. Of interest are the provisions for freeing slaves or returning them to North Carolina. For example, the will provides that the girl Harriet should be sent, at the expense of the estate, to a free state at the discretion of Mrs. Wynns.
