The youngest son of the immigrant Minor Winn. Born Fauquier County, Virginia c 1750. Living in South Carolina c 1767 working as a surveyor. During the Revolutionary War, graduated through the ranks from Leut, to General in South Carolina regiments. He married Priscilla McKennie and had children Margaret Evans, Samuel, Benjamin, Thomas, a daughter who married Thomas Sims, Priscilla Blocker, William, John, Richard, Christina, son Minor had died in 1802. He left South Carolina for Maury County, Tennesee in 1811 and died there - his will was recorded in 1824 and he must have died close to that date.
