We located the cemetery at Priceville where he is said to have died and discovered that the grave markers are old, deteriorated, and mostly not legible. We spoke to a historian in the area and he confirmed that Madison WINN was in the war and stationed at Priceville when he died. However, at that time, and with the war going on, soldiers who were not killed in battle were often buried in unmarked graves. There are many unmarked graves in the back, and oldest, section of Priceville Cemetery, and we believe that Madison is likely buried there, which will make finding out exactly when he died impossible. "While in Tupelo, we read the Agnew diary, then visited a location mentioned inside where Agnew is buried, very near the outskirts of Tupelo. After seeing his gravesite we began to wonder if Isabelle "Ibey" Winn's maiden name could be Agnew, and that Mr. Agnew was possibly her father. This could explain why he would mention Madison Winn in his diary. According to the census reports, Isabelle's middle initial was A. We searched for several days throughout Union and Pontotoc Counties and could not locate a gravesite for Isabelle, Sarah Caroline, nor Parmelia Winn. They seemed to just vanish after the 1880 census. "While in this area, we did locate the gravesite of Francis Marion WINN (WYNN) and his entire family. We have photos of all the grave stones... searched for Robert Ioman WINN's gravesite but were not successful." Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
