Margaret Ellis Wynne, Educator, churchwoman, 76 Margaret Ruth Ellis Wynne, 76, of Lansdowne, an educator and churchwoman, died of Lou Gehrig's disease [amyotrophic lateral sclerosis] Saturday at her home. Born in England, she graduated from Cambridge University in 1946. She taught for a year at Blackheath Girls School in London. In 1947, she married the Rev. T. Laurence Wynne, a Presbyterian minister. His assignments took the couple to Ireland and Canada and then to the United States in 1976, when he was appointed U.S. Director of InterServe, and interdenominational missionary agency based in Upper Darby. Mrs. Wynne was editor of the InterServe publication, "Goal" for 10 years. At age 65, she received a doctorate in family counseling and ministry from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wynnewood and was adjunct professor at the seminary for two years. She then became associate director of missions for Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship, an international student organization based in Madison, Wis. From 1997 to 1998, she was professor at the Evangelical Theological sSeminary in Osijek, Croatia. Her son, the Rev. Carroll L. Wynne, said his mother related to the students who were living in that war-torn country by sharing with them her experience living through the Blitz in London during World War II. For many years, Dr. Wynne organized Bible study groups and often spoke about the Bible at conferences int he United States and Canada. In addition to her son she is survived by another son, the Rev. Alistair E. Wynne; daughter Shelagh Wynne; and four grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11 am April 13 at First Presbyterian Church, Summit and Cascade Roads in Springfield.
