I am sending it on to you guys because of the WINN/WYNNE reference. Regards, Alex Charles City County, Virginia History Originally Charles City, formed in 1634. In 1703 Prince George was formed from the part of Charles City County which lay south of the James River. In 1720 Brunswick was cut off the southern portion of Prince George. In 1734 Amelia County emerged from Prince George's western holdings. In 1752 the final boundary change occurred when Dinwiddie County was created. 1634: Charles City County included present day Dinwiddie County 1702: Prince George County formed from Charles City County 1720: Brunswick County formed 1752: Dinwiddie County's present boundaries established, except for the portion annexed by the City of Petersburg Parishes: Bristol 1643-1702 (also Henrico Co. & afterwards Prince George), Charles City 1613-?, Chickahominy before 1640-1643 (also James City Co.), Flower dewe Hundred aka Jordan's Journey 1620s-1688, Martin's Brandon 1655- 1702 (afterwards Prince George Co.), Smith's Hundred abt 1617-abt 1619, Southampton 1619- 1622, Wallingford (first called Chickahominy Parish) 1643-16?? (also James City Co.), West and Shirley abt 1613-1622, Westover by 1625-1702 (afterwards Prince George Co.), Weyanoke abt 1618-1702 (afterwards Prince George Co), Wilmington abt 1658-1723 (also James City Co.) Most pre-1833 records were destroyed by the ravages of Benedict Arnold, Banastre Tarleton, Grant's Armies of the James and Potomac, and fire. The Town of McKenney is the only incorporated town in Dinwiddie County.
