This line is represented today by the Baron St. Oswald who resides at Nostell Priory, West Riding Yorkshire. Edmund Wynne and his father George Wynne, Draper to Elizabeth I was among the first 72 persons in 1619 to receive a land patent [a "particular plantation" of 500 acres in Virginia for having transported a multitude of persons and cattle to Virginia. There is no indication where the particular plantation was located but it was likely situated along with other London merchant who formed Martin's Hundred. George Wynne died in 1610 and Edmund carried on the family business in London as both were members of the Merchant Taylor's Guild. Edmund's son and George's grandson was granted a Baronetcy in 1660 one of the first after Charles II regained the throne. He was a member of the Mercer's Guild. There is no idication that any of these Wynne's "lived, Married or had issue in Virginia as they were at the top of the social stra! ta in England had no reason to pull up stakes and remove to VA. Though I would leave some room for an emigrant in this line to have left England during the interregnum. The visitations give a fair account of this line but the County History of Yorkshire expands the collateral to a greater degree. - Robert Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
