John Gwyn for many years. I think it's well if the surnames Winn, Gwyn and Wynne do not get comingled in this line as they have in the subject line and text body of your message. Every citation I have seen for this Rev. John Gwyn spells his name with a preceding /G/. This Rev. John Gwyn would have been appointed by the Bishop of London after serving a period as a rector in England preceded by at least 4-5 years of schooling. If I recall correctly this John Gwyn went to Oxford to receive his D.D. prior to his departure to Virginia as rector of Abingdon Parish. The court document you cite is as you say unrelated to the Rev. John Gwyn and may be related to the several [perhaps two lines] of Wynne residing in York, Warwick and James City Co.'s contemporaneously during this period none of whom are related to Col Robert Wynne and his line - they are thought to have emigrated to Virginia prior to Col. Robert Wynne. The ancestor's of the several Wynne lines precede the Rev. John Gwyn arrival in Virginia by at least 20-30 years.
