Mildred S. Winn HOMER, LA - Mildred S. Winn, 88, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2006, after a short illness. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at 10 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer. Officiating will be Dr. James Simeon of First Baptist Church of Homer. Interment will follow at Old Town Cemetery in Haynesville, LA. Visitation is at Rose-Neath in Homer from 5 -7 p.m. on Monday, May 1, 2006. Mildred was born Letha Mildred Sharp on March 29, 1918 in Chariton County, Missouri and was married to the late Elmer O. Winn, Sr. She had made Claiborne Parish her home for 65 years. She attended what is now Northeast Missouri State University. She taught school for five years and worked as a legal secretary for the law firm of Shaw and Shaw in Homer. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Homer. She enjoyed participating in the "Old Ladies in Red Hats Society". She spent the last 35 years actively involved with genealogy research, helping many families regain a sense of their own family history.
