I am a semi-retired high school principal and currently work a few days a week at the Regional Office of Education doing some grant writing and life safety audits of 98 public school buildings in our region. Obviously, I am an avid genealogists researching our branch of the Winn family. Lorna (my wife) and I have been to Wales twice and have visited Gwydir and Llanwrst along with the Wynn chapel and historical room/area at the local church. We stayed at Gwydir Castle, home of my ggrandfather (15 generations removed) Sir John Wynn and thoroughly became immersed in the family history. My branch of the Wynn/Winn family goes through Minor Winn and onto Illinois via the National Road. My gggrandfather was John W. Winn who was born in 1818, I think in Pennsylvania (according to death certificate), however, I have found another document in which it indicated he was born in Maryland. I do know that he married Mary A. Derry on January 1, 1842, in Loudoun County, Virginia. If anyone has information about this line of the Winn family I would certainly enjoy sharing information with you. Thank you again for including me in this illustrious group and I look forward to e-mailing many of you. Your cousin, Bill
