This is an African American Winn family I am adding some details: William Henry Winn born abt 1842 he married Nancy Allen b about 1850 found on the 1870 census records for Mecklenburg VA his son was George Washington Wynn born 1870. William Henry Winn born abt 1842 is very likely enslaved by William Winn of Mecklenburg VA. Tradition also states that William is his father. This William Winn of Mecklenburg is reported by some to be the son Freeman Winn who is found in Lunenburg at some time. Do any of you have the estate records transcribed for Freeman or William. It would be most helpful to have them. Involved in this lineage is an overgrown cemetery which was in the first William's family and had been deeded to the descendants of the second William.
