    1. [WINN] WINN Family in Arlington, MA, for many generations
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: bbffrrpp Surnames: Winn, Hutchinson, Crosby Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.winn/1673/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello, People currently living in Arlington, MA, are interested in the WINN family which lived in that town for many generations. It was a "market farm" family probably begun in the 1800's. I do not have a WINN on my family-tree that I know of. * So, I am just curious if anyone has researched that family. And, I'm also curious who the WINN patriarch was - for MA. If you are interested in this family, you might like to know that the Arlington Historical Society has a set of "diaries" written by Nina WINN from ~1900. Betty (near Lowell, MA) * I have been researching my HUTCHINSON and CROSBY ancestors for 20 years. My great-grandmother's relatives started the research, so I had information to start with. There was a very large HUTCHINSON Farm in Winchester, MA. (When that farm start in 1720's the land was still part of Charlestown, and then was part of Woburn, before becoming Winchester ~1850. Approx. 1840, my ancestors, Jacob and Eliza (CROSBY) HUTCHINSON, lived on the farm. And, Eliza's younger brother, John CROSBY, had the large "market farm" down the street - in Arlington, MA. (Arlington was "West Cambridge" until late 1800's.) John CROSBY was one of the neighbors of George WINN. Their farms were near each other. (The HUTCHINSON Farm was at the top of the hill on Hutchinson Road (Winchester / Woburn) and the CROSBY Farm was at the bottom of that hill (Arlington / West Cambridge). (No one has ever written a book on the HUTCHINSON patriarchs, brothers, George and Thomas, and their descendants. So, I don't know if there was a WINN spouse among their descendants. George and Thomas had arrived in 1630 with "the Winthrop Fleet.") Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
