    2. ROBERT WYNNE
    3. David- Since your visit is primarily to see the sites, there are Wynn sites in Northern Wales not often visited by Wynn descendants. I attach a copy of three chapels associated with the Wynn family of Gwydir. At the top of the list would be Gwydir Uchaf as Sir Richard Wynn raised this chapel in the memory of his earliest ancestors. Though not mentioned in the phamphlet there is a stone tablet memorializing the line of Gwydir from Sir Richard to their ancestor the "last right heir of the title Prince of Wales". The key to the chapel is held by the groundskeeper and the staff at Gwydir should help with advance arraingments to access the property by thier guests. As a "Southern Winn" - I'm not sure that term has any meaning except to diferentiate the PA Dr. Thomas Wynne descendants from everyone else since it certainly has no application in regards to the common Winn/Wynne gene pool. 3. Hello Connie, Should have read this message first. I probably have answered your questions in the other message. But I will see if what I have to add is helpful. I do not know if John was first in his line of Winn's to come to America. For the most part John worked in the coal mines in the New Castle on the Tyne area in several locations. From a conversation I had with several men at a Pub in Seaton Delaval north of New Castle John must has been in management at the coal mine there. The reasoning being that he lived in Foreman's Row (Row Houses) Considering his position as a Coal Weyher I suspect the man was right. The Pub we were in was at the end of where the Row houses were located but had been taken down in the 1950s. I know that John's sister Mary Johnson came in 1880 and died only six years later. If there were others in his family that came to America I have not located them as yet. In reading some of your groups messages it appears that there were some Winns that served in the Rev. War in Virginia. I have some ancestors that were patriots who lived in the Halifax/Pittsylvania, VA area, but they were not Winn's. My Winn line is the most recent arrivals to America. The rest of my lines have been here back to the 1600s. I understand you have a DNA project going. I have been working with a group of Morefield's who have talked about doing a DNA test for our connections. If I did one for them would it work also for the Winns? Or would that have to be a separate test. Meanwhile back to KY. John Winn arrived in KY at Hancock county some time in the 1850s and left during the Civil War. John's Son Robert was in the medical part with the Union Army. Hawesville/Hancock/Kentucky was a Confederate town and John has a daughter who made a union flag and raised it in the town square. The town did not take kindly to this and the family was warned to leave. They did and moved to Du Quoin/Perry/Illinois. John lived into his 80s and his son George was almost 95 when he died. I remember George as he was the only grandfather I ever saw. Does this help any at all? 3. It very well could be. John Winn was the son of Thomas Winn born about 1776 according the 1841 Durham Census. I have a Bible page from John Winn b 1809 married 1835 mary Fletcher in Heyworth/Durham/England to Mary Fletcher. John and Mary had a son named George born in 1851 in Seaton Delaval, Northumberland just north of New Castle on the Tyne. I have been there, it is a neet smaller village compared to the New Castle area. Let me fill you in on what I have been able to locate but not necessarily prove. Thomas Winn and Elizabeth (From Bible pages) 1. Mary Ann Winn 1808 to 1886 Married John Johnson Buried in Du Quoin, IL 2. John Winn 1809 to 1891 Married Mary Fletcher Buried in Du Quoin, IL 3. Joseph Winn 1811 to 16 to bef 1891 Stayed in England (Questionable) 4. Robert Winn abt 1816 to bef 1891 in England Shown in 1841 Census with Thomas and Elizabeth. Thomas was a Collier by trade. John was a Collier(Coal Weyher) Is there more information about other children? John and family came to American in 1852 firt to PA then to Hancock County, KY and during the Civil War on to Illinois. John's sister came later in 1880 and died in 1886 buried in Du Quoin, IL. John has a son named Robert. Mary Johnson had a son named Robert. It is evident that John has a brother named Robert. George Winn had a daughter (my grandmother) he named Venus de Winn. The story he told was she was named after the planet Venus when he went outside and the first thing he saw was the planet Venus. He also said that he used the "de" because they were entitled to use it. I have never figured out what he was talking about. 2. Hello Robert We would love to help and figure out which Winn's are yours in Kentucky. That is an area where we need help with identification. I am kind of lost with your e-mail. Who was the immigrant to Kentucky? John born 1809??? You know about the Churchill Downs Winn, Matt/Martin son of Patrick. Then we have all of our winn lines coming through Kentucky at some point. Many of them intermarry. Any info that can help to identify any Winn line in Kentucky from UK is WONDERFUL and one of us may have info from UK. Connie Connie

Hi All, I have had my email and password hijacked again. Sooooo Sorry if you received an email Supposed to be from me, asking for money and asking you to send it to London, and that I am stranded there. This is a scam, do not send money. I am changing my email add. From tommyemc@msn to dnvrgma79@hotmail.com. Please note my new email add. The old one is no good, since this person stole my email address and my password. I am so sorry this has happened.
