    3. All the information I have on these William Winns is from Shirley Winn Williams. If I have them connected incorrectly, it is most likely my fault and not Shirley's. Does anyone have the original postings by Julie Zapf or Shirly Winn Williams? I would love to see it again to make sure I have these guys connected correctly. -----Original Message----- From: Wcraig7526@aol.com [mailto:Wcraig7526@aol.com] Sent: Thursday, January 23, 2003 10:45 AM To: WINN-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [WINN] William Winn/Wynn/Wynns/Winner/Winne 1756 NC Del, I'm confused - a not unusual state: The information I have is the William Winn, Jr. 1803-1866 m. 3. Here is some information I have on a William Winn that would have been born around 1756. I'll start with his father, William Winn Senior. William Winn (1732-1813), son of Minor Winn (1691, 1778) and Margaret O'Connor (1695-?), had a son names William Winn. William's other children were born in the 1756 to 1770 range. This William Winn (a Junior or the II) was married to his 1st wife, Phoebe Osborne (? - 1858) and then his 2nd wife, Nancy Barnett. William was born in Kentucky and died in Greene County, IL. William and Phoebe had at least 1 son, George Washington Winn (1827-1896). George Washington Winn was born in Indiana and died in Greene County, IL. He married his 1st wife, Mary Ann Tucker (? - 1852), and then his 2nd wife, Sarah Tucker (? - 1859) and then his 3rd wife, Mary Catherine Boggess (? - 1895). George and Mary had at least 1 son, George Elmer Winn (1867 - 1903). George Elmer Winn was born and died in Greene County, IL. He married Cora Reamer and had at least 1 son, George Elmer Winn, Jr. (1903 - 1986). George Elmer Winn, Jr. was born in Greene County, IL and died in Arizona. He married Nelle Rhodes. George and Nelle had at least 1 daughter, Shirley Elizabeth Winn. Shirley Elizabeth Winn married Bill Richard Williams. The source of all of this information came from Shirley Elizabeth Winn Williams winnfam@cox.net. -----Original Message----- From: The Thill Group Inc [mailto:ttg-inc@attbi.com] Sent: Tuesday, January 21, 2003 11:24 PM To: WINN-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [WINN] William Winn/Wynn/Wynns/Winner/Winne 1756 NC Dear Cuz's... 3. Deanna is right on the beam -- PS stands for Patriotic Service. And according to the DAR Patriot Index (a list of all certified ancestors used by applicants to the DAR for admission up to the time of publishing of the particular version) Patriotic Service included "An Associator; Collector of Provisions; Defender of a fort or frontier; Delegate to a Continental Congress or to a Provincial Congress; Express Rider; Fence Viewer; Furnishing a substitute; Gunsmith who gave his services; Inspector of provisions; Member of the Boston Tea Party, or the Cherokee Expedition, or the Balvez Expedition, or the Kaskaskia Campaign; Member of a committee made necessary by the War; Minister who made patriotic sermons; Munitions maker; Nurse; Taking an oath of allegiance; Patroller; Prisoner of War or of the Indians; Ranger; Rendering aid to the wounded; Rendering material aid; Signer of an Association Test; Signer of a petition; Surgeon; Wheelwright." Quite a list!! Chris Moore DEANNA AMES wrote: > Becky, I believe that PS after a Revolutionary Ancestor in DAR means > Patriot Service.
