    3. Yes it was sad to loose Carol. It was talked about here on the WINN-L, glad to see they kept the page up I didn't know if the family would continue it. 2. R.Smart of Ancestor-Rescue.com
    3. Thomas Jefferson, the President, died on July 4, 1826 which was the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, which he drafted. Coincidentally, John Adams, a lifelong friend of Jefferson and another author of the Declaration of Independence, died the same day. Unlike Adams, Jefferson died owing huge debts. The State of Virginia was trying to raise a lottery to help him pay off his debts but that never happened. I would think his will would be more involved and include mention of Monticello. He was also supposed to have freed the Hemmings family (5 blacks) in his will. His property was all sold, included 130 slaves (not mentioned here either) to pay some of his debts. This will doesn't seem to jive. I have seen Thomas' wife listed as Martha Wingfield but find it doubtful. I say that because I find Martha Wingfield listed as the daughter of Jarvis Wingfield and Hannah Wynne. Nor do I find any of our "Dr. T's" kids or g-kids etc going to Sussex, VA.... Do you know of one? Help us out if you do... P.S. 3. Cuzn Becky, Your comment here meets my thoughts at the time that David & I was chatting - if applicant had met all requirements, eligible, of age & etc. that was what the Lodge needed to activate the file. So I did not persue the records of my gg-grandfather for I had his lineage, location (home & city) of family or most all that I needed for record at that time. Of course, if I had been joining the Eastern Star, or had a son who wished to be a Mason, to have researched past Masonic files might have helped in ways other than genealogically. Thanks, and do hope my two lines re my own experience was a help to others - A bundle of Hugs to you, Becky! Nathaniel ( b.1747 MD ) spent most of his life in Loudoun Co., VA including a brief stint in the RW. According to his RW pension application , he took off for Westmoreland Co., PA with his son Thomas ( my gggrandfather ) after his marriage to Rebecca. He had never been there before and was 65 years old. We have always puzzled why? He stayed in Westmoreland Co. until 1819. His son Thomas ( b. 1800 Loudoun Co., VA ) according to research by Vicki Leonelli became a school teacher in Fayette City (Cookstown ) PA in 1818, married a local girl, Hetty Allen, raised a large family and moved to Harrison Co. Incidentally, they may have moved in with Jonathan Wynne in Westmoreland Co. He is th most likely candidate. Thank you.

My main concern and my line is through John Winn of Lunenburg, however, I have worked on Winn's in Lunenburg that I am interested in the other Winn families that were so close in the business dealings with my John Winn of Lunenburg. Since you have worked on these lines I would like to ask you a couple of questions about this family. First is the Thomas Wynne and Martha Wingfield that you are referring to as the father of the men listed; is he the same as will recorded in Sussex County, 21 Jan 1773. In his will he only mentions children, Thomas, John, Joshua and daughter Phebe and not children, Daniel, Joseph and Samuel. Do you have any records or material that would connect these three older children to Thomas and Martha. On the 16 Sep 1740, Joseph of PG county buys 400 acres next to his brother Robert. Could this be the same as the child of Thomas that you have recorded. Could Thomas have children of an older marriage that he didn't name in the will. And one interesting item is both my John Wynne and Samuel Wynne bought land from a Royal Land Grant in Brunswick county both on the same day 01 Dec 1740. And the last is the these older children seem to have lived in Prince George county while the other's lived in Surry and Sussex. Do you have any details on way this seperation between families occured, or did Thomas Wynne own land in Prince George located on Stoney Creek where Joseph and Robert Wynne lived. Hopefully you can clear up the questions I have. Thanks for your response. Jim

    3. Are there more than one John Winn that married a Susannah Irby? My 4th great grandfather John Winn born 1720's to 1730's married a Susannah Irby. He died in Amelia County Va ca 1780 and she died after this in Nottoway County, Virginia. If anyone has more details on either family could you please share with me. Thank you. I don't have that name in my records, however, my research is quite narrowed when the Winn's moved to Tennessee. Will keep looking though and will be back if I can find anything. Jim
