Just a note: It is a genealogy of the highest caliber. What has happened is that in the last five years we have corresponded, attended reunions together, learned about each other and our kids, and guess, what - we have become not just researchers, but Family. Stick around, you'll like it -- and the tons of information that we have collected. Vi of MN Tgr2ctp@aol.com wrote: >Thought this was a genealogy site. > >Carolyn Thomas Platt >N. Dear Carolyn, You are correct in your thought, this is a genealogy e-mail list. The Out of Pocket/Back in Pocket subject header I use as List Admin. to notify the group of when I am not tending the e-mail list. The Off Topic, all use. They should always be deleted if you wish genealogy only based e-mails. Dear Cuz's, I am back in pocket, safely returned after a F A N T A S T I C Reception & Concert with Luciano Pavarotti [Opera]!!! It was wonderful!! I actually cried, silly I know, but to have the opportunity to speak to him, shake his hand and then to hear his concert was and is so beyond what I ever thought I would get to experience in my life just kinda got me. How blessed my life has been, and I do take the time appreciate it. Just like I appreciate the opportunity to work with all of you Cuz's on the Wynn [all spelling's] research, you are each and every one very special to me, Thanks for sharing! On a very sad note, we have gone to war. Many of our families have members over there defending our and other countries right to freedom of terrorism, for that I am very grateful. Please keep our military men and women in your thoughts and prayers during this time, I will. Hugs Becky Thill List Admin. We are probably not connected but I thought it wasinteresting because one of my grandfathers was Josias (Joel) Young Winn. His father was Henry Winn b 1824 in GA. Josias was born in LA in 1872. Mary in CA
Ken, My Winn line came from Lunenburg Va. Sorry. Ellen of Powhatan, Va
I am searching for the parents of Joseph Y. Winn or Wynn(e) who was born circa 1825. He studied medicine at Starling Medical School in Columbus Ohio and graduated from there circa 1855. He settled in Williamsville, Sangamon County, Illinois where he died in 1887. I have information Joseph's middle name was Young, so I wondered if there might be a connection here. Joseph Y. Winn is my husband's great grandfather. Thanks for any help you might give me. This one is my proverbial brick wall. Kathleen Pebley Winn
Hi, I saw notice about Powhatan, Va. Are you related to any of the Winns of King William in early 1800s. Ken A0305@aol.com wrote:Cuz Becky, Have a FUN and SAFE trip. I am also excited. Dear Phyllis, Well, I have no information that relates to the line you show below, I can say this... the last four months the group has been asleep. Spring fever is coming maybe some of them will wake up and maybe come up with some ideas and ways to help you out. I have written before and got NO response - I will try again! Could this family be any more difficult (unless their name was maybe Smith or Jones)? It seems every sibling named a son after a favorite uncle, cousin, ect.! My line is: Lois Nadine Wynne, born June, 1925 in Ks. C.S. Wynne, born Apr., 1900 in Ks. William Washington Wynne, born Feb., 1868 in Mo. s/o Robert J. Wynn(yes, no "e"), born 1842 in Ind. s/o Peter S. Wynne, born about 1810 in Ky. s/o J.R. Wynne, born about 1789 in Va. William had three children: Francis Marion, Viola Emeline, and William Washington. William Washington had children named Viola, Fred, Castinos, Frank, George, Anna, John, and Herbert. I feel certain they were connected to the William Wynne family that moved from Va. to Grundy Co., Mo. because even though Robert J. lived in Ks., they travelled to Grundy Co. for the births of all their children. And I know Peter lived in Ks. and Grundy Co., Mo. They seemed to travel from Va. to Ky. to Ind. to Ill. to Mo. and Ks. Does anyone have the will of Harmon (William's son) Wynn? Will someone "humor" me this time and let me know if you recognize anything at all? One more thing, they were related Joshua William Wynne that lived in 1830 in Ind. Joshua William's son was Robert Hughes Wynne and he and Robert J. went to Kansas together. And have a wonderful weekend! I live in Kansas City area and we are finally going to have a spring weekend! Hope you do too! Phyllis Phillips pphillips3@kc.rr.com
Hi all: I posted this before but I didn't get any response, so I will try again. I am looking for WILLIAM EATHEN WINN who was married to ELLEN SPECK. William was b approx 1871, Ellen b approx 1881. Ellen's parents were GEORGE TRAVIS SPECK and FRANCIS DEMPSEY. Last know address for William and Ellen is Niagara Falls, New York in 1950. (It states this in my grandfather's obit - he was Ellen's brother - George Valentine Speck). William and Ellen also lived in LaSalle, New York at one time. I don't know all of their children, but the ones I do know are: TRAVIS SILAS WINN LEROY E. WINN b 1904 GARNET DEMPSEY WINN b 1911 WILBURT EARL WINN b 1913 GARNET DEMPSEY WINN married ISABELLA (LUM?) Their children: EMMY LOU WINN b 1937 married JOHN LELAND MILLER WILLIAM GARNET WINN b 1942 married JUDY MAE DOTY I am actually trying to research SPECK, but I have hit the wall and I am hoping that if William and Ellen's descendants answer me, I might get a line on what to do next. I live in Canada and I am not familiar with the records for New York. Is there an on-line census for 1951? How do you find someone when all you have is their name? I would appreciate any help or ideas. Thank you. Gerri "the love you take is equal to the love you make"
Younger Winn was my Great-Great-Grandfather. Frank Winn
I didn't know I was so old - My name was Mary Virginia Winn but I was born in 1930 in TX. Just a coincidence. Mary in CA
