They moved to Crawford County, Ga and attended Little Union Baptist Church c 1825. There was also a William Winn that attended the same church in 1827 and 1828. Mary and William have a grandchild named Minor. Does anyone know who Mary's parents may have been or who this William Winn is? Mary's daughter Charity married Phillip Schofield from Fairfield Dist SC in Bibb County, Ga, another connection to Fairfield County. I haven't been able to tie Mary into the Winn Family of Fairfield County conclusively but there seem to be clues that she would be part of this family. I have the book The Winns of Fairfield County and would be happy to do a look up. Best regards, Gaila

Carolyn, I don't know where or even if I fit into your line. What I have, I think, goes like this Thomas Winn, 1753-1824, son of John Winn, 1705-1789, son of Richard Winn, ?-1716, son of John Winn, ?-1690 I have no siblings on any of these. I have pieced this together from info off this WINN list. I need any kind of info that will help me confirm these relationships. Thanks for any help, Ed Winn ________________________________________________________________ The best thing to hit the internet in years - Juno SpeedBand! Surf the web up to FIVE TIMES FASTER! Ed, Which of the early Virginia Winns do you tie into? My line runs with Tony's until Alexander, then we split off from different siblings. To tonym - Do you have any siblings for any those early Winns back in VA that you listed in the message below as part of your direct line. I think I might tie into one those early names but I don't know which one. Thanks for any info from you or anyone following those names. For the information of those who do not subscribe to the Hertford or Bertie County N.C. lists, I recently provided a full transcript of the will of William B. WYNNS (1796 - 1840) to the Hertford List. I believe it has been posted in the Hertford Co. archives by now. Names mentioned in the will are wife Mary A. Wynns; sons James and Thomas; executors John W. HARRELL and Richard G. COWPER; slaves Winborn, Byrum, and Harriet; witnesses Daniel SMITH, Cary WHITAKER, and James WILLIAMS (probably of Jackson, Co., FL); and clerk of the court L. M. COWPER. The will mentions property in Jackson Co., FL and Hertford Co., for example, the Petty Shore Plantation and Fishery, the Winton Ferry, and the Homewood or Odums tract. Of interest are the provisions for freeing slaves or returning them to North Carolina. For example, the will provides that the girl Harriet should be sent, at the expense of the estate, to a free state at the discretion of Mrs. Wynns. Both parents were born in Pennsylvania. Eliz. married in Indiana, 1826 Stt. Joseph Co. and migrated to Wisconsin. I have not been able to find any connection to a family for Elizabeth other than a census that says her parents were both born in Penn and she was born in Ohio. I do not think this family has any connection with southern Winn families. Any links to be explored will be helpful. She married Peter Campbel who was born in Penn. and whos family ended up in Delaware co. Ohio. barbsidler@earthlink.net
