Lisa, Sorry I have been so tardy in replying. I don't have that information in front of me. I know that Jack Wynn of Atlanata has it though. I will try to find something to help you and get back in touch. Lemuel was born in Georgia as were many of his children. he also had several brothers and sisters, but I don't recognize Green Wynn as one off the top of my head. I thought that Lemuel was in Russell County by 1850, but I'm not sure about that - I know that my grandmother's sister married his son in 1866, but they could have arrived after 1850 - I'll just have to do some checking for you. Again, sorry I have been so lax - lots going on right now. Regards, Hal
Mary - Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. The only Wynn/Winn/Wynne who shows up in Russell Co, AL on the 1840 census is Green B Wynn. He's on Image 3 of 70 @ Ancestry.com's online census images and if I read it correctly, here's what they have on him: Line 4 Green B Wynn 1 male 20 and under 30 1 female under 5 1 female 15 and under 20 Lisa ----- Original Message ----- From: Mary Winn Mcfarland To: WINN-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Monday, July 07, 2003 3:03 AM Subject: Re: [WINN] Related Wynn/Lewis/Philips 1850 Russell Co, AL Are these Winns in the 1840 and 1830 Censuses? They lived in the the area around Marvyn, which was then in Russell County (now Lee County). I am not aware of any relation to any Lewis or Philips families. Lemuel Wynn was a minister; he was murdered as I understand it, as was Clement, from a story I was told last year by a descendant who lives in the same general area in which they lived - the Uhland area of Russell County. I did mention Lemuel Wynn(misunderstanding) My grandfather, as far back as I knowm was John Jefferson Wynn of South Carolina. Am I missing something? Thanks you, and if you would write back, and please let me know who Lemuel was; was he part of the John Jefferson Wynn family? Since I'm new at this, maybe or maybe not this is the right direction. Hi again - thought I'd add a little more information to the mailing I sent earlier. There was a Daniel Winn (also spelled Wyn) who had dealings with William Hardy - and lived near him - I this Daniel would be about the right age to be a brother or cousin to Mary Elizabeth. I still continue to look for the ancestry/siblings of Mary Elizabeth Winn/Wynne b cir 1723-1728 in Amelia??(Amelia wasn't formed at that time in history/maybe Isle of Wight?).
