Sure made her more interesting at 156 =) Barbara, I may have read it in a hurry but did you say that you found no "Winn" family in Ohio or none of that Winn family? We are having our 5th annual Wynne Genealogy Research Reunion next month [Sept. 22 - 28] in Butler County, OH. And we are going to be going to all funeral plots of the Wynn [ all spellings] families in Butler County. And in discussing it with my co-hort in hosting it.. I remember her talking about some Winn's that are buried there... Most of us have found all the Wynn families to have several different spellings in each family. Hi, Please note the typo about Elizabeth Winn. She was as young as 16, not 156. Sorry. Hi Winn researchers, This brick wall seems to be getting higher every day! I am still seeking information on gg grandmother Elizabeth Winn, born in Ohio, married in Indiana 1836, to Peter Campbell. She may have been as young as 156 when she married. Lived in Wisconsin, Nevada and California where she died about 1901. I have found no information on Winn family in Ohio or any source indicating who her parents were. She had a son named William Henry a daughter Emma Maline and another daughter Adelia who may have married an Anderson. William died in the civil war, 1863, Emma married Tallmadge Norwood. Her marriage information spells the name WINN. One family source has found it spelled WINNE which makes a big difference. Elizabeth was an interesting and resourceful woman who lived through many hardships. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Dear Cuz's, Short version: 1. Reginia has been addressed, and she has apologized. 2. Do not respond to any message subject titled "We need to speak". 3. If you respond to the message after my e-mail posts, you will be under disciplinary action for doing so. 4. You will probably receive a few more messages until everyone wakes up and gets down to my e-mail. Please delete the "We need to speak" subjected e-mails until all members get down to my message to the group. 5. Rootsweb only blocks attachments, not words in the body of the message. Only I can block content "after the fact". Which has been done. Long version: I have already addressed Reginia privately. Please STOP addressing the OFF TOPIC message with the title "We need to speak". It was an inappropriate e-mail to post to our WINN-L or D e-mail list. The poster of this message realized the error as soon as it was sent. She has come back and apologized, and explained it was sent in error. With Rootsweb the only thing they do block are attachments, they do not scan and block inappropriate e-mails message content. I as the admin. have to manually block the e-mail address before Rootsweb will block them. At this time I do not feel I need to block Reginia from the list because she addressed the error immediately upon realizing what she had done. Should she again post inappropriately to the list she will be dealt with appropriately. This e-mail list is not to be used from this point forward to discuss this subject so please do not respond with your opinion of the posting to this list. Please realize as people wake up and start reading their e-mails this morning that my e-mail is going to be way down the list, from the first one. Members will post their opinion or outrage before they get to my e-mail asking everyone to stop responding to the mistake. There is nothing in my power to stop that. I request everyone to treat the e-mails with the subject line "We need to speak" as a OFF TOPIC and delete it before reading any more of them. Should you respond to the "We need to Speak" subject e-mail after my request not to, you will be subject to disciplinarily action. Should you have any problem with my handling of this matter please take it up with me privately. While it is disappointing that someone chose to violate policy and use this list for a political forum, it should not cause well meaning researchers to drop off. If people drop from the list we are all losing important future information and help in that ever elusive search to find, share and document our ancestors. Becky has done a super job at being the caretaker of the list and this group and I have every confidence she will hadle this situation in the same fine manner. Forget, forgive and learn from each mistake we make. Frank Winn

That is the good news. CNN has the story on its website along with a polling place where you can agree or disagree with the President. Currently there are over 600,000 votes disagreeing with the President's position!! About 2 to 1 against! <http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/07/30/bush.gay.marriage/index.html Pass it along

Yes, Ferdinand the grandson of Gloucester, went to New Kent to live with the Chickahominies. He sold his last piece of land in 1848. About two miles from where I now live in King William. Henry Wheeley, who married Ann Nancy Winn, witnessed many of the deed transfers. I am tracing the Wheeley Name also. ALso, Polly Winn sold land to Ann Adams( I am an Adams). The band of Indians living in the vicinity of the Winn land, actually connecting the Winn land, was at one time known as the Adamstown band, now known as the Upper Mattaponi. If you can find a map of King William county, the land south and east of Central Garage (the crossroads of US 360 and State Route 30) was occupied by Indians. On an 1863 Civil War Map(Web Accessible) It is marked clearly on the map - "Indians". It is Up River from the Mattaponi Indian Reservation. Just south of the Mattaponi Reservation there is a church with a couple of Winn headstones. Ken JaPawynne@aol.com wrote:Ken, Gloucester and Sarah are my ggggrandfather and mother. Yes, I am saying that many remnants of burned records are readable.(Apparently they were copied in 1930) I was not aware of them until the last few months, and last week had an opportunity to review them. If you look at Gloucester Winn and his children, most of them had land in King william, because you can see the deed transfers. Sarah(wife of Gloucester) actually transferred some to her children while she was in Natches, Mississippi. I wrote down the deed book number and page of each record I found. Just looked at some of the old burned records of King William, Va. Found many partial deeds of Winns. It appears that Sarah moved to Mississipi with her son, because land transfers to her children were witnessed in Mississippi. She was married to Gloucester Winn, who was born approximately 1730. There are deeds listed of most of the offspring of those two. Ken > > > --------------------------------- > Do you Yahoo!? > Yahoo! Hi Everyone, Has anyone done any extensive research on this line of the Wynns? > Sir John Wynns bca 1550 had at least two sons William and Henry. > William had dau Sidney who married Edward Thelwall, their dau Jane > married William Williams and they had a son Watkin Williams . > Henry the other son of Sir John had a son John who died without any > issue. Watkin Williams received his entire estate and addded the > surname Wynns and took Sir John Wynns Coat of Arms. So I suppose you > have the first Watkin Williams Wynns. Does anyone have any leads on the Thelwall/Williams/Wynns? Now I am been given information Surry County Va court records 1691 - 1700 Bk V: Certificate is granted to William Williams to the secretaries office for fifty acres of land for the importation into this colony of George Wynns, he having made the oath as law direc Sure would appreciate any suggestions? Thanks Marilyn
