    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Winn Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/FgWBAEB/701 Message Board Post: I have found a listing in the 1880 census of Pope Co., Ark.for an M.L. Winn, Matttie J. (his wife?) Orpha M.(Dau?) and Roxie Winn. Does anyone know anything about these people? I also have a note written by my grandfather, A.C. Winn, on a piece of paper (similar to an order form) that shows him sometime in the 1880's as being in that county and in the hardware business.I have a feeling that it must have been in the very early 1800's (1880-1883) because he was back in Lunenburg Co.,VA by 1884 and married my grandmother in Mathews Co., VA in 1885. He may have been staying with Winn relatives in Ark., and prehaps these were relatives that are listed in the 1880 census. Any ideas?

I am trying to trace the family of gg grandmother Elizabeth Winn but only know she was born in Ohio around 1816 (guess) and married to Peter Campbell in St. Joseph county Indiana in 1836. I am trying to research her Winn family in Ohio but have nothing to start with other than her name and the fact that her husband's family were in Delaware and Licking County Ohio. Any help would be appreciated.

    1. Re: [WINN] Re: Nashville TN area -- Winn/Wynne
    2. On your website, you have Clemen Winn as the son of John and Mary Winn. I suspect that he may be John Coleman Winn, my ancestor, but have never been able to prove this. John Coleman Winn married Thursey B. and their oldest children were born in North Carolina. Their youngest children were born in Tennessee. The children were born between about 1822 and 1850. The children of John Coleman Winn and Thursey B. are: 1. Robert B. Winn 2. James Coleman Winn 3. Minerva Winn 4. Jane Winn 5. Archa Winn 6. Sam Winn 7. Sarah Winn 8. maybe a George Washington Winn Thursey B. Winn can be found in the 1850 census of Marshall County, Tennessee. Other than that, I can find no census records for these individuals. Many researchers have indicated that John Coleman Winn is the son of General Richard Winn. This doesn't seem to fit the fact that John's oldest children were born in N.C. I have no solid proof that Clemen Winn and John Coleman Winn are the same person. Clemen just seems to be the best fit of the North Carolina Winns that I have found. As a side note, some say that Thursey was a Cherokee Indian. However, no one seems to have proof of this. Anyone out there able to help. Tony Bacala

    2. David E. Cann
    3. As most of you know, Becky has been in Ohio at the reunion along with a lot of the other Winn/Wynne "cousins." I just received a phone call from her asking me to "list sit" for a week or so, because rather than head back home today to Texas, she is going to Wisconsin to take care of some unplanned family business. She asked me to post this note to the list so you would know. I will be watching both of her lists for approximately a week, or until she returns home, so if you need help with a list problem, please contact me personally at the address below. If you write directly to Becky or to the official List Admin address, she will likely not read it for a week or more. David E. Cann decann@infionline.net
