I have not been successful in locating his parents or siblings and wonder if there might be a connecction here. His wife was Harriet Virden or Gordon and they are both buried in a Lutheran cemetary in Muskingum County. As there were a ton O "John Winns" around Ohio/Kentucy/the Carolinas about that time period, my trail has gone cold. Would you be willing to share some of your Winn files to see if my John was part of your line?
