He married Elizabeth Leach in 1840 in Stogursey and immigrated to Australia two weeks later. Courtesy of Free BMD, his parents appear to be John Winn and Hannah, and he was baptised on 17 Apr 1814, St. Mary Bridgwater, Somerset. I am the grandaughter of William Welton Winn, who moved from Marquez, TX to Santa Ana in the late 1890's. Welton and his wife Lizzie Spencer Winn had 10 children4 boys and 6 girls. Two of the girls dies in infancy and are buries in the Winn Cemetery in Marquez, TX. The family lived in Santa Ana until some time in the early 1900's. The house they build is still standing (barely) at the location of their ranch. When they left Santa Ana, they moved to Canyon, TX. I never met either of these grandparents, since both died before I was born. But I learned quite a bit about the family from one of my cousins, who lives in Lubbock, Texas. He has most of the family records. Lizzie Winn died in 1915 and William Welton died in 1935. I believe he remarried once more after Lizzie died. I know all of the 8 surviving children of welton and Lizzie, including my father and his 7 siblings, as well as most of the Welton Winn grandchildren. If you are still interested in the Welton Winn family, please email me and I will let you know what little I know about them. They came to NYC as you noted in 1848. I found Bell and the 3 children on the 1850census in NYC under Gabella Wyn. No Michael- by 1860 Bell is no longer found so, I presume ,she died. James became a printer and lived his fife first in Manhattan and then moved to nearby Brooklyn. He married Elizabeth and lived until the early 1900's. He named one of his daughters Isabella. Catherine Wynne married Henry Smith and lived in Manhattan for the remainder of her life. She also named a daughter, Isabella I can not track Mary I'd like to know anything abuot Michael and Bell. Who were their parents? Siblings? etc. I guess that John is Michael's brother but I could not track him on the US census Thank you fro any help you can give me.
