    3. It sounds as if Francis Jay Winn, Sr. died after 1912. Death Certificates were required in NC beginning in 1913. Few people complied in the early years, but it's worth a shot to try to find one in Alamance County for Francis, Sr. It it's there, it should name his parents and actual birth date. 3. I was looking through my Woolard information and found this item in the history of his CSA unit: WYNN, EDWARD, Private Born in Isle of Wight, England, and resided in Martin County (NC) where he was by occupation a mariner or laborer prior to enlisting in Martin County on May 1, 1861. Present or accounted for until captured at Fort Hatteras on August 29, 1861. Confined at Fort Columbus, New York Harbor, and at Fort Warren, Boston Harbor, until paroled on or about January 30, 1862, and transferred for exchange. Declared exchanged on February 20, 1862. Present or accounted for until the company was disbanded on March 20, 1862. Later served in Company A, 17th Regiment N. C. Troops (2nmd Organization). The is from: Weymouth T. 1. Re: [WINN] type in Winn in the search engine: Lettice Winn??
    2. DEANNA AMES
    3. Thanks, Brian. I found the BYU Website interesting and the Winn Family of great interest. Has anyone looked at the Winn Family info on the BYU website by Bertha Bearden Keller? Bertha Keller mentions a book by Adeline Evans Winn; "Southern Lineages". Bertha Keller gives the impression that the info that she has provided for the Minor Winn Family can be found in "Southern Lineages" by Adeline Winn. Does anyone have this book and does Adeline Winn mention Margaret Winn & Moses Johnson? I believe that I have found where the mistake was made when it was reported that my ancestor, Margaret Winn Johnson daughter of Minor & Margaret Conner Winn married Moses Johnson. Either Adeline Winn or Bertha Keller reported that the Fauquier & Halifax Co. VA Court Records proved that the Moses Johnson who was the guardian of Benjamin & Elizabeth Winn Smith's Minor Children (both Benjamin & Elizabeth Winn Smith died in Halifax Co. VA by 1770) was the "husband of Margaret Winn Johnson". Further research of Culpeper Co. & Halifax Co. VA Court Records would have proved that Moses Johnson was the "SON of Margaret Winn Johnson" and that her husband was "Smith Johnson". Anyway I am interested in the info Adeline Winn reported in "Southern Lineages" concerning Margaret Winn Johnson daughter of Minor Winn. Thank you for your help.
