Doris, Everyone who is connected to Daniel Winn is looking for his parents...to date no one has been able to tie him definitely to anyone. His wife's name was Sarah Tench, daughter of Henry Tench. Greetings from Minnesota-- It has been very quiet. I myself took time off to catch up on the rushes of info that comes thru. Yep you guessed it right I'm back. I thought I could just put it all away and forget it but I guess I've got the " bug". I'm getting caught up so won't be long and I'll be bugging for answers again.--Hope every one had a good holiday season--Carol Winn Ott Gerri Vout wrote: > > I have posted before, but since the list is very quiet, I have decided to > post again. > > I am looking for birthdates, etc., for William Winn. I have posted before, but since the list is very quiet, I have decided to post again. I am looking for birthdates, etc., for William Winn. He married Ellen Speck. All I know of them is that Grace Ellen Martha Speck was born 1881 and she married William Winn. In 1950 they were living in Niagara Falls New York. That is all I have for them. Thank you. Where did this information come from, Barbara? I'm supposed to have a William Winn (Kentucky and Ohio) in the War of 1812. A letter written in 1929 by my father's great-uncle Richard Byrd Winn states: Grandfather Winn was a Captain in the War of 1812 to 1815, and was in the Army of the United States at Washington under Gen. Winder, who although had a greater force than the British who landed below Washington cowardly retreated into Maryland and the British captured Washington and burned it. However, I've never been able to find a record of this William Winn in the War of 1812. He was supposed to have been a "waggoneer."
