    3. Even though undocumented information can't be used to verify family facts, it can still give you wonderful hints about where to look for documentation. The popular County History books are the same - wonderful hints but still articles written by people who may have had faulty memories - but they still give some excellent hints. When the 1880 Greene County,IL History states my gr grandfather George Washington Winn never "swore an oath, took a drink of liquor or told a lie," I thought "Hmmm." Keep on looking! 3. Hi, I just read that I was the source for parentage of Daniel Winn. Just like everybody else, I don't have a good source. In my earlier genealogy days when I didn't understand the importance of sources, I may ha ve given someone that info. My info has been printed and reprinted on the net without my permission. Along with everyone else, I wait with baited breath for some proof of Daniel's parents. Jonathan your gggg grandfather was born between 1760-1780 in South Carolina. His father was William Hall Tuten (Tutton) who is believed to have migrated from Wedmore Somersetshire England to South Carolina somewhere between 1755-1765. Catherines siblings include; Jonathan Jr., Jane, James, and Martha. I would be a 2nd Great Grand-nephew to Jonathan.

    1. Some advise I just gave to someone going to the SLC Library
    2. Brian Winn
    3. advise you all ready know: copy title pages and indexes of pages you are copying, plus look a few pages ahead on sections if you're copying pg 34, the start of the chapter at pg 30-33 might have additional info (made that mistake more than a few times) Plus . . paying attention to see if the pages you are copying have footnotes at the end of the chapter or abbreviations with the definitions in another place (my most frequent mistake) Have Fun! Good Hunting Brian Anyone have any more advise?
