    3. As a List Admin myself, let me show you a little trick. To write directly to the Admin of ANY RootsWeb list, the address is [email protected], only change "LISTNAME" to the actual list name, so in this case the address for the List Admin would be [email protected] That works for any list RW has, just make sure you use the correct list name. :-) This will put it into the same inbox if you used her personal addy. 3. Brian, Captain Peter Winne and Hugh Wynne (or Winne) arrived at Jamestown settlement in the fall of 1608 aboard the second supply ship. Peter Winne was drowned in a boating accident a few months after arrival; however, is anything recorded about Hugh. There were only two white women in the community at that time, Mrs. Thomas Forrest and her maid Anne Burras. Burras married John London. Also, the Jamestown settlement was near the Pamunkey Indian villages. Was Hugh an ancestor of Baylor Winn? In one of the messages, I noticed the name "Hugh" as a probable son of Owen Wynne with Owen coming to Virginia in 1611. Any ideas about the names of parents of Peter and Hugh who came to Jamestown in 1608? Don Winn -----Original Message----- From: Doris R. 3. Has anyone taken a look at this? Someone was nice enough to send me this section from the book. The following account from 'Wise Footsteps' is a very plausible effort to connect the Winns to Wales. I found a couple of references to Robert Wynne as the Uncle of the John Wynne of Gwydir. Unfortunately, I did not get any sources for this section. Does anyone have this? It is listed as being in the SLC Library Brian Winn " Evan (Jevan) said to be son of Meredydd ap Jevan, born c. 1540; had a son: "Sir Robert Wynne, born c. 1570, was of Conway, Wales, who in the late 1500's built Plas Mawr mansion in Conway which is now used to house the Royal Cambrian Academy of Arts and is open for tours. The famous Wynn bed, built in 1570, is housed at the Castle Hotel and can be requested when making reservations. A son was: "Captain Thomas Wynne, born 1590/92, died 1625; came to Virginia, 1611, with his kinsman, Owen Wynne; married probably Dorothy Hines (?Vines) and received large tracts of land in York and Warwick counties. Two sons were: Richard Wynne; married Joan____; [and] "Captain John Winn, born c. 1632, Virginia; died c. 1694; patented land in Westmoreland Co., Virginia, 1654; married Elizabeth Minor, daughter of John Minor and his wife, Ellinor. Two sons were: Richard Winn; married Ann Cocke Minor Winn; married Ann Byrd "Richard Winn, born 1672, most likely in Westmoreland Co., Virginia; died 1748, Virginia; married (1st.) Sarah ____; married (2nd.) Ann Cocke. They lived in Middlesex Co., Virginia." (citing for Richard the Winn-Jarvis Book). 1. does anyone have information on litigation in England regarding Sir Owen Wynne?
    2. Brian Winn
    3. I know that the research in the J.A. Winn passage below has been strongly debated in this forum, but I don't recall seeing any information on whether the 'litigation' referenced below is accessible in the English court system? Does anyone have any thoughts? Thanks Brian Winn "No positively new discovery, but it appears that Captain John Winn, (Wynne) who married Elizabeth Minor, was the son of Sir Owen Wynne, the fourth son of Sir John Wynne of Gwydir in Wales. Sir Owen Wynne came first to Virginia in 1611, returning to Wales, and came again in 1620 and returned to Wales in 1649 to succeed his brother as the third Baronett Wynne. He left in Virginia two or three sons: Captain John, Owen, and probably Hugh. When Sir Owen died in 1660 he was succeeded by his younger son, Richard Wynne. A long period of strife and litigation followed, and that branch of the family in Virginia changed the spelling of the name to Winn; this began with the sons of Captain John Wynne. Richard Winn and Minor Winn were sons of Captain John Winn (Wynne)." Genealogy of the Winn Family 1500-1963 by J.A. Winn page 2
