    3. Thanks for the encouraging word, Cuz B. My oldest ancestor on my own mtDNA links to Oetzi the Iceman found in the Alps - haplogroup K. It's all so interesting. I knew I had a Hessian soldier as an ancestor - Heinrich Frolich - who was captured in MD, and when the war was over he deserted on the way back to NY to be sent back to Hesse. He married into a prominent family - the Ogle family which had been here since Colonial times. Smart man! What was the nature of your illness?" He got the following reply. "Well, it all started when I got married and I guess I should never have done it. I married a widow with a grown daughter who then became my stepdaughter. My dad came to visit us, fell in love with my lovely stepdaughter, then married her. And so my stepdaughter was now my stepmother. Soon, my wife had a son who was, of course, my daddy's brother-in-law since he is the half-brother of my stepdaughter, who is now, of course, my daddy's wife. So, as I told you, when my stepdaughter married my daddy, she was at once my stepmother! Now, since my new son is brother to my stepmother, he also became my uncle. As you know, my wife is my step-grandmother since she is my stepmother's mother. Don't forget that my stepmother is my stepdaughter. Remember, too, that I am my wife's grandson. But hold on just a few minutes more. You see, since I'm married to my step-grandmother, I am not only the wife's grandson and her hubby, but I am also my own grandfather. Now can you understand how I got put in this place?" Shared by Kathleen M. Winn who received it herself. At Rockhill, located 3.4 miles east of the The Plains, VA on Route #15, thence 1/2 mile N on private road. It is thought that the small house that Minor Winn Sr. built in 1775 was part of the larger house. At the end of the larger house joining the kitchen is the stone meat house and it is thought that this is part of the first small house built by Minor Winn Sr. Minor Winn Jr. built the larger house named Greystone date 1807. 3. Paul, I accidentally deleted your email about your Watkin Williams Wynns or your WWW with similar spelling. I am back at home with a few quiet days ahead. If you will resend your information, and go back as far as you can with your Winns, I will see if I can make a connection to the NC Wynns with the Watkin Williams given names. By the way, I have noticed that even in the proven NC Wynns line, the "s" moves around. Sometimes, it's Watkin Williams Wynns, sometimes, Watkins William Wynns or even Watkin William Wynn. The first WWW in the US seems to have had the "s" on both his middle name and his last name, but not his first name. No connection has been proven to Sir Watkin Williams Wynns in Wales, but if there should be one, Sir WWW of Wales was born a Williams, but had Wynns blood through his mother. Sir WWW inherited his title from his father , who was a baronet through the Williams side. He, also, inherited the fortune of his Wynns' ancestor, who was a baronet, as well, but couldn't pass his title to WWW because he was not a first born Wynns son. Sir WWW was required to change his surname to Wynns in order to inherit that estate. It would be interesting to see if a male from my (our?) Wynns/Wynn/Wynne/Winns/Winn/Win line would trace back, genetically, to the Williams surname or the Wynns surname. Have you considered having a DNA test? Jo Prytherch

The postings on the Wayt forum say he was the son of George Wayt who bought a plantation at Ivy Creek in Albemarle Co, VA. It is possible the 'J' in Mary J Winn is for Johnson and the Winn is a guess, influenced by his association with John Winn. So more info on John Henry Winn might help clear this up.
