Who was = "Brother Winn assists me in setting out cedar trees around our grave lot in Antioch," Sophie Adams Goodrum wrote in her diary in the winter of 1869. From the book, "Antioch, the First Baptist Church in Warren Co., Ms." by Gordon Cotton.
Charles L. (Chuck) Wynn Valley Hills Funeral Home, Yakima YAKIMA - Charles L. (Chuck) Wynn went to be with the Lord on May 22, 2006. Chuck was born on March 4, 1929 in Backus, Minnesota to Vannie and Lillian Wynn. He was the youngest in a family of 15. In 1949 his family moved to Washington. Chuck and Barbara Ralston were married on April 9, 1955 and raised their family of one boy and four girls in Naches. Their youngest daughter, Joy Susan, died at 18 months of age in 1965. Chuck and Barbara raised their family to serve the Lord and were lifetime members of the Naches Church of the Nazarene. Chuck worked at Layman Lumber Co. in Naches for 25 years. After he retired in 1982 he took one year off and decided retirement wasn't for him. He returned to work for Marley Orchards and continued to work until his health started to fail. Chuck loved spending time with his family, camping, and going to the beach. He especially loved spending time with his grandkids: Ryan O'Neal, Ross O'Neal, Nick (Jeannine) Ward, Scott Ward, Tasha Wynn, Tony Wynn, Joy Alvarez, and Cassie Alvarez. Chuck is survived by four children: son Darrel (Robin) Wynn of Tieton, Renee (Matt) O'Neal of Cowiche, Patty (Lee) Hibbard of Yakima, and Mindy (Beto) Alvarez of Yakima. Chuck was preceded in death by his wife Barbara in 1993 and all of his brothers and sisters. Our family would like to thank Parkside Nursing Care for the kindness and care they provided for our dad for the past few years of his life. Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 10th at Bethel Nazarene Church on Mead Avenue.
Well if you go to the actual part of the diary it says Marriages in Buncombe--rain Learn that George McWhirter and William Caldwell are home on furlough. There have been several marriages in Buncombe since I was down. On the 22nd Dec. Jno. Roberts and Nancy E. Caldwell were married: on the 23d James Carlile and M. J. Haynie. During the Christmas week Octavia Stewart was married to Mr. Potts. There are several other marriages on the tapis. Rev. Isaac Smith officiated at Roberts and Carliles marriages. Learn that Madison Winn died near Pricesville of chronic Diahorea a month ago. Buncombe is in NC and it makes me think that there was a Pricesville in NC at that time...but I can't find it on a search. In addition to the mention of "Madison WINN," this diary also mentions the "12th MS Calvary." This is the unit Madison's son Jasper claimed to be in on his pension application, though I can hardly find a mention of the 12th, much less a roster. The events in the diary seem to focus on the area & people of NE Mississippi. And "Esebella WIND" appears as hh in 1870 New Albany, suggesting Madison is deceased. Also, no other "Madison" in the area at that period has been uncovered. Therefore, I *believe* (but can't prove) that Madison WINN/WYNN died Dec 1863!

I see very little info on the King William Winns. Ken __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com
