    3. OK, I'm game. My Winfields are the "Ohio Group." John and William Winfield lived in Canfield, Ohio (Mahoning County) in the 1840s. William eventually moved to Indiana where he was a Campbellite preacher. John was a gunsmith and all-around tinkerer who cross-bred strawberries and repaired clocks. Their father, John Sr., brought the family from Leicester, Leicestershire, England, in 1829 and 1830 and 1832. John Sr. was married twice. His first wife was Sarah Shipley and she was the mother of all three of his children (John, William, and their sister, Sarah Winfield Caldwell). After Sarah died, John Sr. remarried to a woman named Ann Rose. Both marriages took place in the Borough of Leicester. I think my Winfields may have originally come from Nottingham, but I'm sort of stuck right now in the Borough of Leicester. If anyone connects with me, I'd love to hear from you! Their youngest son Arthur is my husband's dad. We have the lineage back to about 1760 to England.
