My father, Charles Winfield, located in Kirkfield Ontario. He has 3 brothers: Edwin (Peterborough), William (Bobcaygeon), and Russell (Mississauga). He also had one sister, Florence, who is now deceased. Their father, my grandfather, was Edwin George Winfield, he had two sisters: Marjorie, and Florence (who later changed her name to Rosemary). Their father, my great-grandfather, was William Walter Winfield, who came to Ontario as a bernardo boy. It is rumoured that he had a sister who ended up somewhere in the USA. I have no information prior to that. Actually, it's kind of a family mystery! If you think these are the Winfields you're looking for, let me know! I can get you more information and dates. Thanks, Alyssa

I'm trying desperately to find some information on my family. It's sort of a mystery. It starts with William Walter Winfield. He came to Canada as a bernardo home boy in the 1800's. He married Elizabeth MacGuire (McGuire?), and they had 3 children: Edwin (my late grandfather), Marjorie, and Florence (who later changed her name to Rosemary). Does anyone have any information on this part of the Winfield Clan? I would like more information on who William Walter was before he came to Canada...who his parents were, where his sister went...rumor has it she moved to the USA. Any information would be great!

Hi, I saw the posting concerning the Winfields of Texas. My dad's family descended from Aryson Winfield b. 1812 son of David and Mary Howard Winfield who married Mary Elizabeth Riley (dau of Benedict Riley and Anna Hayden). Their daughter Martha Anne Winfield b. 1838 Missouri married Wilford Brown b.1830 Perry Co., MO died Lavaca Co. Texas and their daughter Minnie Anne Brown is my dad's grand-mother who also married a Riley from the Maryland Raley/Rileys. I haven't been able to find any more information on the Winfields past David Winfield and Mary Howard although latley I haven't been able to work on it often. You might contact the Saint Mary's County rootsweb website. Linda Reno and others online have multitudes of information concerning the Maryland Catholics (including Laytons, Howards, Rileys, Browns, Riney) who migrated to Texas via Kentucky and Missouri. They are usually very helpful. Cheryl Riley Cain OKC payne@millertel.net wrote: This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list.
