I don't know exactly where "my" Mc Ginty members came from other than most likely Achill Island or the Ballycroy area. Where is Tonragee located? I have been researching several families who immigrated to the U. S. between 1855-1870 from County Mayo and settled in Sauk and Juneau counties in Wisconsin. In July 1999 I had the chance to visit a cemetery where many of them are buried. The name Ballycroy appeared on some of the headstones. I have hired researchers at the local Irish Heritage Center, but none have been able to shed much more light on the family's exact origins or what became of the ones who remained in County Mayo. These are some of the surnames I have in my project so far: Bains/Baines, Corrigan, Conway, Gallagher, Grimes, Kerrigan, Kilbane, McBain, Mc Cann, Mc Laughlin/Mc Loughlin, Mc Ginty, Mc Hugh, Sheridan, Sweeney. Sound familiar? Perhaps we have some connections! Joni joseluiselrapido@aol.com
