It is inscribed on the back with "Conant" and "Tomah, Wisconsin". I am not sure whether Conant is the child's surname or a given name. The photography studio is Baumgarten, Tomah, Wis. The photo came from an album that belonged to my grandfather, Charles Griffin St. John. He was born in Lafayette, Monroe County, WI, in 1873, and moved with his family in 1883 to Deuel County, Dakota Territory.
