Hello List, I am seeking any information on the family of Patrick BOWLER and his wife Catherine/Ellen STACK who lived in/near Sparta, beginning in the 1860's. Patrick was probably related to Wm. Thomas, Ed and John Bowler who were some of the first members of St. Patrick's Catholic church in Sparta in 1867. These last Bowlers seemed to have been prominent in the community (they were mentioned in a 1912 Monroe Co. history), with Wm. M. Bowler being one of the organizers of the Sparta Fruit Growers Association in 1896, and several other Bowlers--Ed, Timothy, James J. and George becoming lawyers. Patrick Bowler seems to have made little mark in the community and he moved to Minneapolis with some of his family, likely before 1890. I believe he died there ca 1895. Catherine/Ellen Bowler, his wife, probably died in Sparta before the family moved. All the Bowlers came from Ireland, first to MA, ca 1850's, then to Wisconsin mid-1860's. I hope to learn where in Ireland they may have originated. Hopefully, the better known members of the BOWLER family have left a clearer paper trail than Patrick did. Patrick Bowler and Catherine/Ellen Stack's children, all born Sparta, were: Johanna, b.ca 1866 m. John Carey, Mpls. 1892 Patrick, b. c 1869 Mary, b 1871 Catherine b. 1873 Ellen, b. 1875 I would appreciate any input and info; Thanks, Larayne Carey, Washington State
