She was married about 1880 to Jens Nielsen in Denmark. The next year, in 1881, they moved to the U.S.A. settling first in Michigan then Wisconsin. Emma had three children with Jens - Arthur Peter, Anna Marie and Carl Olaf - before Jens died in 1889. Emma then married Mads Johnson and they had four children - Jens, Herman, Elizabeth and Hans. Emma died January 1, 1917 in Wisconsin.
