It could very well be that the area she lived in did not partake in the census. I did find her in 1870 census. Not sure if you caught that with the exception of John Busack & Annie Busack, the gebauers used the name Busack in 1870. Johanna listed as Christianna(?) (which could be her middle name). August listed as William Busack, Frederick as John Busack, Henry as Henry Busack, Rosa as Sarah Busack and Annie as herself, less then a year old. The years and birthplaces match with the exception of John (elder) being born in Nassau. I read in one posting that Johanna was evasive about herself, this could be why the chose the middle names. I tried checking under those names and nothing yet has come up but am still searching. Was the maiden name you posted for Johanna, Coupe? I tried to read it but it was a bit difficult. I surmise that Ernest & Johanna along with August came to Americ! a about 1858 being that August was born in Germany (Prussia) and Frederick was born in Wisconsin.
